Lillian Too, the world's greatest and most successful feng shui expert and author in English, hosted a Chap Goh Meh party to celebrate the 15th and last day of Chinese New Year of Wood Horse. Held at her double bungalow residence in KL, it was a fitting finale to 15 days of feasting.
As usual, Lillian Too hired a caterer to provide the sumptuous buffet and anyway her home is perennially a land flowing with milk and honey. Her fridges are always stocked to the freezers and I saw loads food and hampers given to her by guests on her dining tables.
I love visiting her home (or rather 2 individual bungalows turned into 1 huge home) as I feel like I am in a Pure Land! She bought her neighbour's bungalow right next door, razed it to the ground and rebuilt from scratch to her specifications. Lillian Too continues to live in her original bungalow and uses her newer one as a retreat and guesthouse for visiting gurus and monks as she is a devoted Tibetan Buddhist and many venerable, high ranking lamas have graced her home as guests.
There was a Dragon and Phoenix dance which continues to be very rare and in fact I have never seen it anywhere except at Lillians' house as she was the creator of the Phoenix dance to complement the Dragon! Actually it makes sense the traditional Dragon dance should also be accompanied by a Phoenix since this two complement each other and symbolise the ultimate Yin and Yang concept! Lillian Too suggested to the dance troupe to make a phoenix and they did! This year, women will take centrestage so be nice to them and the phoenix is the symbol of female power so it was a very auspicious and powerful chi-generating performance! There was also a Lion dance to usher in prosperity for Lillian Too, her family and everyone who attended---a win-win situation!
