SOMERSBY TO LAUNCH DURIAN FLAVORED CIDER!

The first durian flavoured beer in the world!

Many of my darling readers have commented on the durian I was holding in my arm in the latest Somersby blogpost.

Of course all were curious to know why I was holding a prickly durian poking its thorns into my delicate palm as durians and apple cider are generally not found in the same sentence.

What has durians got to do with Somersby cider?

If you also noticed, Somersby’s bigwigs like Gary Tan, Pearl Lai and top management team were sniggering and smirking in the group photo with me flaunting the durian.

Ok, now I can let leak the secret!

SOMERSBY IS LAUNCHING THE WORLD’S FIRST DURIAN CIDER!

Sounds ghastly and vomity or fabulously fantastic?
After all, we already have durian flavoured ice cream, cupcakes and dessert pastries so why not a durian flavoured, sparkly beer?
The King of Fruits is now King of Ciders!

The durian is not the only new, exotic and out-of-this world flavour to be released either! Simultaneously as the durian, other flavors released this April include chilli padi, bitter guord, corinder, cheese, carrot, black beans, potatoes, winter melon, teh tarik, butterfly flowers and cherry blossom!

REFRESHING BUT TAD BLAND

All these will join the current trio of Somersby Apple Cider, Blackberry Cider and Sparkling Rose which was launched at Roofino last December!

But since I was part of the Somersby Superlicious Sexy FlavorS campaign, I brought a durian to the Somersby Somertime party at Glasshouse as a prelude to the launch.

A sort of teaser of things to come.

As expected, some actually asked me jokingly if Somersby would be launching a durian cider to which I replied “Yes, the first in the world in April”! Naturally they were of two minds---was I playing along or telling the truth?

Now, the truth is out in all its pungent fragrance! Yes, the new Somersby Durian cider will be released to seduce or destroy our palate! You will either love it (like me) or hate it like many!

Anyway if Somersby Durian fails in Malaysia, there is always China as the mainlanders love our durians and import so many we are left with leftovers at high prices! So if the Chinese start importing Malaysian-brewed Somersby Durian, we will get to enjoy the real fruit in peace!
