Limkokwing Fashion closes the curtains on KLCC fashion week in style

The Limkokwing University’s Fashion and Lifestyle Design Academy took centre stage and  closed what proved to be KLCC’s fashion event of the year with style, creativity and innovation.

It was truly an amazing spectacle that featured over 90 fhemes ranging from Heritages of the East and West, Evening Gowns, 50’s to Military collection put together by the talented student designers in a show entitled “Creativity in Motion”. Donning these beautiful designs were their own talents aka students from over 15 countries.

The audience was particularly impressed with the way the show was conducted with different choreographies of each collection. According to Shiva Ruppeni and DJ Putra of Limkokwing University Radio, “We were truly impressed with the show and our favorite part was the Military collection as well as the Fifties”. The whole show was choreographed and styled by Diana Petrechova from Slovakia and the Fashion Design faculty of Limkokwing University. All of the garments are designed and created by the Limkokwing University Fashion and Retail Design, including the dress worn by Maya Talpur, the emcee.

For the first time ever, alumni designers were invited to showcase their collections during the “Creativity in Motion”. Limkokwing University proudly present couture collections by Nthiran Krishnan and bridal collections of Rico Rinaldi, two rising young designers in Malaysia fashion world as part of the Creativity in Motion show.

“It’s important for people to see the influence of fashion in all aspects of society. What is the best place to show it other than KLCC” said Dato’ Tiffanee Lim, Associate Vice President of Limkokwing University. “The clothes are made by diploma students and the quality is very good. It’s a testament of how far creativity can take you and show the competency as well as what people can do”.

When asked about the involvement of alumni designers, she said "It is a good a platform for them to exhibit their creations and inspires other young student designers that  despite being students they can go far away producing world class creations. Fashion is a phenomenon and by adding the Asian cultures into the fashion world, we are proud with our alumni and students"

The crowd was highly entertained and grooved with the amazing talents from the Limkokwing Sound and Music Academy. Jonah from Zimbabwe, Zya from Indonesia, Suraya from Malaysia and Saadan from Pakistan all graced the stage with their takes on songs from popular artists. Lucas from Slovakia brought the crowd to their feet with his hip-hop dancing. Hosted by a quartet of emcees, Maya from Pakistan, Amri from Egypt, Virgil from Mexico and Jonah, the event was nothing short but memorable. The show was graced by Honorable Senator Thuli Msane, Senator, House of Senate, Kingdom of Swaziland.

This much celebrated collaboration with KLCC is of  huge significance as for the first time ever, KLCC has invited an educational institution and a brand that is not part of its establishment to be part of its annual showcase and giving the university perfect prominence and the honor to bring to close the 2012 KLCC fashion week. Sponsoring the show was Revlon for make up and Nose for the shoes worn by the models.

Constantly raising the bar and setting new standards

Students from the Limkokwing University grace the catwalks of the biggest shows in the country and across the globe. Earlier this year in London the university made fashion history as the first ever Malaysian and Asian University to host a fashion showcase at the London Fashion Week, collaboration with Botswana High Commission in London, British Council and British Fashion Council as part of the Fashion 2012 Cultural Program.

It is also the first and only university to be selected by the international fashion show organizer J Model Management to take part in an international fashion event held at the Petronas Twin Towers Sky Bridge held 558 ft above the ground dubbed the tallest fashion show in the world.
