To be able to chat with the Queen of England up close and personal must have been the highlight of their lives of these Malaysians!

By a remarkable and totally unique coincidence, Queen Elizabeth II's state visit to Malaysia in 1974 was hosted by the King of Malaysia who was then Sultan Abdul Halim Muadzam Shah. And today, as Her Majesty celebrates her Diamond Jubilee and official birthday, the King of Malaysia is again His Majesty Sultan Abdul Halim Muadzam Shah!

This incredible coincidence continues with the Yang DiPertuan Agong's Prime Minister. From 1970 to 1975 when Sultan Abdul Halim Muadzam Shah was the 5th King of Malaysia, his Prime Minister was Tun Abdul Razak Hussein. Today, as the 14th King of Malaysia in the unique Malaysian revolving monarchy between 9 Malay Rulers, Sultan Abdul Halim Muadzam Shah's Prime Minister is the son of the late and great Tun Razak Hussein!

Never before in history has a monarch been served by a father and son within a span of 41 years! The King of Malaysia is 84 years old, making him the oldest serving sovereign in Malaysian history and the third longest serving monarch at 54 years. The longest reigning monarch is King Bhumibol Aduladej of Thailand at 66 years and of course Queen Elizabeth II at 60 years.

Queen Elizabeth II also holds the record as the longest reigning Queen as she has reigned longer than Queen Victoria who was the first British monarch to live to celebrate her Diamond Jubilee in 1897. Queen Victoria however, holds another super-grand title which would be impossible today for she was also Empress of India! She officially became Empress of India in 1876 and at the height of the British Empire, she reigned over ONE-QUARTER of the human population! A feat that has never been done nor repeated!

Today the British Empire is a shadow of its former self and in its place is the Commonwealth of Nations of which Queen Elizabeth II is Head.

Few Malaysians realise Queen Elizabeth II was once the QUEEN OF MALAYSIA! Queen Elizabeth II became Queen in 1952 and thus she was Queen of Malaya and British Borneo from 1952 till our independence in 1957! Queen Elizabeth II has reigned so long at 60 years that most Malaysians under 60 never realised she was once our Queen!

Long live Her Majesty!
