Firefly mounts extra flights to meet Raya demand
To meet the high demand for flights this coming Hari Raya festive season, Firefly will mount five additional flights to Kota Bharu, three additional flights to Pekanbaru and two additional flights to Medan from its central hub Subang.  From its northern hub of Penang, the airline will add one additional flight to Langkawi.

These additional return flights will depart on 16, 17, 18, 25, and 26 August.

According to Ignatius Ong, Firefly’s Chief Executive Officer, “Historically, the demand for the flights on these routes during the Raya period has always been high, but this year the demand has been even more so. Based on our advance sales figures, we can see that most of the flights on the key festive dates are averaging 65 to 70 percent full, and there’s still a month till Raya! The above said additional flights are already available from our website and I urge everyone to quickly make their respective purchases soonest as we foresee the tickets being snapped up at a very fast pace.”

This year the Eid holiday is expected to fall on 19 August 2012, resulting in a four-day weekend with the National Day public holiday falling on a Friday just 11 days later.

“In addition, with two-long weekends within weeks of each other, which also coincide with the one week school holidays, we had anticipated a higher demand from both Muslims looking to go for a short break as well as non-Muslim holiday-makers, and the sales numbers thus far prove this. We look forward to flying everyone safely to their destination, be it for a special reunion with family and friends or for an extended break.

“Air travel is faster, safer, more convenient and comfortable than driving and our flight and operations crew are ready to get everyone where they need to be efficiently and promptly. This in return allow travellers to have more quality time with their loved ones or at their respective holiday destinations. What’s more, with Firefly, all passengers enjoy 20kg of complimentary checked baggage allowance, complimentary in-flight refreshment as well as the convenience of city airports.

“We would also like to take this opportunity to wish all our Muslim friends a blessed Ramadhan and a joyous Hari Raya.”

Firefly is currently offering an all-in, one-way promotion starting from RM59 for domestic destinations and starting from RM99 for regional destinations. Booking period is from now till 29 July, for travel from 1 August to 31 October 2012. Seats can be purchased from Firefly’s website www.fireflyz.com.my, Mobile App, call centre, airport and city ticketing offices, as well as travel agents.
