The first round was National Costume parade as this is always the most elaborate and time consuming. The 56 beauty queens need plenty of time to pile on the feathers, leathers and follow the leaders!

There was no swimsuit parade due to Malaysian sensibilities.

The winner of Best National Costume was Miss Mongolia Amarzaya Togbataar who wore a relatively simple (compared to the feathers and sequins and wings of other contestants!) but stunning ensemble that would make Kublai Khan and Genghis Khan proud. In fact her outfit looked quite modern and at home in London as well as Ulan Bator!
