AN EASE FREEZE, EASY-BREEZY LIFE WITH MITSUBISHI ELECTRIC  L4 GRANDE FRIDGE!

Life’s an easy freeze-breeze with L4 Grande refrigerator by Mitsubishi Electric! This is surely the ultimate Kool Aid! In fact it is so user-friendly and sensibly designed it does almost everything except cook!

A place for everything and everything in its place!

The L4 Grande is sleek, stylish and sassy in black (Diamond Black) or silver (Stainless Steel) and perfectly at home in Kuala Lumpur, Kensington or Kathmandu. It blends wonderfully in any kitchen be it cosmopolitan, rustic or exotic.
Yet despite its indisputable beauty, this is a hardcore, industrial sized facility loaded with so amazing features to make life so easy you wonder how you managed to survive the kitchen before you installed the L4 Grande!

At the recent launch for bloggers at Melco Sales Malaysia aka Mitsubishi Electric, assistant product manager Kenix Kok explained, “Mitsubishi Electric is internationally renowned for superb electronic products, ranging from aircons to fans and everything a homemaker needs.
L1410209_edited.JPG
“To stand head and shoulders above the rest, Mitsubishi Electric is constantly refining, inventing and innovating new products and ideas.”

And so here is Mitsubishi Electric’s latest must-have; the all new L4 Grande fridge!

Explained Kenix Kok, “The L4 Grande has 5 features that put it in a league of its own; big capacity, ease of usage, healthy, tastier and fresher food, energy efficiency and luxury design. Together they add up to become one superior product that will be the pride and joy of your kitchen!”

BIG CAPACITY
L1410209_edited.JPG
The L4 Grande is larger than it looks though its size is pretty impressive and will be the cynosure of attention in your kitchen. At 0.95 m wide and 1.82 m tall, it is perfectly sized and primed to ease your life, be it cooking for yourself if you are a bachelor, feeding your family or entertaining a score of guests for a house party.

The 2 doors open independently of each other so you can open whichever door at will. This is very important as some French-door fridges come with cumbersome constraints. For instance, the right door must be opened first then only can the left door be opened. This is very irritating if you only wish to take something from the left side of the fridge.
L1410209_edited.JPG
In fact, all 4 doors open independently of each other for maximum convenience, practicality and  speed.

You can REALLY store a mini-supermarket inside the L4 Grande!

EASY TO USE
Another nice factor is the lighting system using LED lights. Not only is this more energy efficient, LEDs light up the entire interior of the fridge evenly and uniformly. My old fridge used only 1 bulb which was fine if the fridge was empty but when I put a carton of milk next to the bulb, the rest of the fridge was dimmed significantly and at the best of time, some parts were always less bright than others.

The trays are adjustable and compartments are ergonomically designed to reduce bending and save your aching back.
I like the utility cases which allow storage of different items from fresh meat and dairy products to canned drinks and bottled beverages.
L1410209_edited.JPG

Everything in its place and a place for everything, I say!

TASTY AND HEALTHY WITH WORLD’S FIRST VITAMIN-INCREASING HOME FRIDGE
L1410209_edited.JPG
The door shelves are also adjustable to suit the height of bottled drinks. Of course adjustable shelves and trays are nothing new but what is revolutionary is the LED light that creates the world’s FIRST vitamin-increasing and preserving home refrigerator!

Can you believe the L4 Grande allows your veggies to continue to produce vitamins? Normally once you dump your greens inside your fridge, it is downhill all the way but not in this case!
L1410209_edited.JPG
The Mitsubishi Electric L4 Grande comes with its own built-in ‘Vitamin Factory’ that acts on chlorophyll in vegetables and actually stimulates photosynthesis which occurs naturally and daily in all living plants! So your greens’ DNA continue to function as if they are still growing and alive which they are!
With its exclusive Humidity Control, it creates the ideal environment for vegetables and fruits to stay fresher and crisper longer in its natural state which is what we want as I don’t wish to have artificially preserved veggies in suspended animation which is so eerie and scary!

Actual photos show the vast difference between fridges with Mitsubishi Electric’s “Vitamin Factory’ and ‘Humidity Control’ and those without! Vegetables kept for 10 days in normal fridges become pale, insipid and unappetising and show distinct signs of wilting while the ones in L4 Grande remain perky and vital!

The twin fans also produce multi-airflow that are evenly distributed, even to hard-to-reach, awkward corners like filled door pockets.
L1410209_edited.JPG
What I like very much is the Anti-Bacteria Food Liner which is a silvery, inorganic anti-bacteria material recognised by the Japanese Food Sanitation Law and is harmless to humans when ingested though which idiot would want to eat it in the first place so we are safe as houses.

The high quality tempered glass shelves can hold up to 100 kg (I am only 64 kg!) so I can load as much food as I want without fear of the unthinkable.
L1410209_edited.JPG
The LED Control Panel on the left door is easy to use and there is even a child lock. The only thing missing is a clock but I bet that will come soon!
L1410209_edited.JPG
The Anti-Bacteria Food Liner is used in the inner cabinet, tough to clean areas that are in contact with food and even the doors come with special lining that curtail mould growth which is the bane of all houseproud folks.

ENERGY EFFICIENCY WITH HYBRID DESIGN
Now that planet Earth is running low on juice, it is good to know your new fridge is not leaving its carbon footprints for your children to worry about. The Eco-Mode kicks in automatically and lowers energy consumption when it is not loaded to the Plimsoll line or when you are not actively using the fridge.

A microprocessor actually memorises your usage patterns the way your credit card shows a distinct pattern of regular purchases from your favourite supermarkets and stores. Using the various time frames, it operates under the most optimal conditions controlled by the microprocessor which means you don’t have to do a thing while paying less to TENAGA!

However, you still have to do a thing---close the door if you accidentally leave it open! An alarm goes off after 1 minute! I have left my old fridge door slightly opened and returned home after 6 hours to find the ice cubes in my freezer had melted, my frozen sausages had thawed and the interior wet and smelly! The L4 Grande boasts a deodoriser and speaking of ice, its 3 rows of twist icemaker and ice tray guarantees ice cold drinks anytime in Malaysia’s hot weather!

However there is an Auto Door Closing system which kicks in when you close the door but not completely! This is a common occurrence as most people don’t slam their RM 5,499 refrigerator! You push the door and assume it is shut but there can be a small gap of, let’s say, 1 or 2 inches. Normal fridges do nothing but allow the cold air to escape which squanders energy. But the L4 Grande has powerful magnets that will quietly and quickly pull the door shut! The alarm only sounds when the door is left ajar wider than 5 inches! Sounds good?
It gets better!

SENSIBLE, PRACTICAL YET LUXURY DESIGN
I love the clever, sensible touches like capsule door pocket that helps prevent food items from falling from the top door pocket. Don’t we hate it when you open the door and something crashes to the floor? Which is why airlines always remind passengers to open the overhead cabin doors carefully to prevent bags falling on your face!

And the coup de grace?

A deep, large space between fridge door handles and mainframe fridge that allows men with fat, thick fingers to open the doors with ease and comfort!
L1410209_edited.JPG

Conventional fridges allocate a gap of only 2 cm which means only slim fingers can go underneath but L4Grande boasts 3 cm. An extra 1 cm does not seem much but try it and you will be grateful for it!

Why not a humungous gap of 5 cm or more so you can open the handles with boxing gloves on?

“We tried using a larger space but it did not look nice aesthetically! We discovered 3 cm is the best maximum gap for practical and aesthetic reasons,” explained Kenix Kok.
Beams my friend Richard Latsch, “I have big, banana-like fingers which always got stuck when I gripped the handles of normal fridges! In fact, I couldn’t even slide my fingers underneath the handle to pull the door opened! I had to use thumb and forefinger to pull the door opened which was so annoying. Only those with slim, skinny fingers like a child could use such doors! I always wondered why no one bothered to think of making practical, friendly door handles!”

A classic case of ‘Ho kua bo ho chiak’ (‘nice to look at, not nice to eat’) problem that is now solved by Mitsubishi Electric L4 Grande!

A surprise contest for bloggers who attended was organised by Kenix Kok with hosts Darren Lee and Julie Woon splitting us into 2 groups. The goal was simple; each group was given an identical stack of groceries and we had to fill up the L4 Grande in the fastest and best way. In other words, don’t put eggs inside the freezer!

Of course my team B planned, plotted and carried out the task with military efficiency using our brains and L4 Grande brochure and won!

Each of our 9-member team was given a new RM 5,499 L4 Grande Mitsubishi refrigerator!

OK, OK, no need to be jealous as none of us got the fridge, sad to say. Each received a handy, 3-piece stainless steel food jar set which is great for home use but especially marvellous for picnic or travel.

The L4 Grande’s slogan best sums up its diverse parts---“Designed  for Larger Living”! Not bigger or merely stylish, but ‘larger’ as truly this is one icebox that is larger than life!
