For the final round, each had to feed the other to signify mutual love and care!

DATO ROBERT GENEID, FATHER OF THE BRIDE ALIA, MADE AN EMOTIONAL SPEECH ON STAGE AT SHANGRI-LA GRAND BALLROOM IN KUALA LUMPUR.

"Alia is our youngest child. I still remember how my wife and I would stare art her in her crib. When she woke, she would smile and her eyes would really sparkle," recalled Alia's dad. By a happy coincidence the wedding day on 16 June was Father's Day.

"Alia had such a happy disposition as a baby we nicknamed her 'Sunshine'. She really brought rays of light into our life and now I hope she will continue do the same for her husband Dias who we welcome with open arms.

"Alia is very caring and compassionate. When she was at boarding school in Sydney, I was told she would help Asian students assimilate and even lend a hand at the day care centre to look after children. She really has a heart of gold.

"When Alia was nominated as New South Wales Student of the Year, she was short-listed among 14 candidates. As the CV of each was read, Alia said her heart sank as she was sure they were all better and more accomplished than her. She was stunned when she won! Despite her attributes, Alia is modest and down to earth.

"As for Dias, I knew his father and family as we both lived on the same floor at Pavilion Residences. Dias is polite and courteous. What I like about him is his sense of right and wrong. This sense of purpose comes from being well brought up by his parents.

"My advice to Dias---take your marriage vows seriously! Show mutual respect and patience. He is halfway through a business course and will continue at Coventry University in London next year.

"I wish my son-in-law Dias and daughter Alia all the best life can offer."

So do we. so do we!

What a contest between new bride and groom!
L1400907.JPG
At the count of 3, the lid was lifted and bride and groom must quickly snatch and eat the rice. The one who won must feed the loser! So it was a win-win situation!

Alia won! She grabbed the rice and ate it while the fingers of hubby Dias were still hopelessly inside the bowl!

All well that ended well as each fed each other to signify mutual love and caring!
