Loyal Dining’s Nostalgic Journey Down Memory Lane to
1960s-70s Hong Kong
Nostalgic restaurant,Loyal Dining, takes diners on a journey down memory lane back to Hong Kong in the elegant era of the 1960s-70s.The retro three-storey venue onWellington Street, Central, supports Loyal Dining’s concept, which is derived from the idea of revisiting the colonial era when East meets West. For an authentic Hong Kong dining experience infused with the unique history and traditions of Hong Kong, Loyal Dining is the perfect destination.

An "old Hong Kong" ambience is recreated with décor of warm tones, mosaic flooring, vintage wallpaper, wooden staircases and sepia photos from the long lost era.

“Loyal Dining” is named after a play on the Cantonese saying “Loi Lo”, for exquisite imported ingredients that became popular during colonial Hong Kong – and the menu loosely described as traditional Chinese gourmet food faithfully revisits those classic dishes from days gone by.

66 Beef Wellington and Baked Escargots are as popular as the Baked Pork Chop with Fried Rice and Sunny-side Egg, all classics from the Loyal Dining menu.

The dim sum menu is steadfastly traditional with Black Truffle Vegetarian Dumplings, King Prawn Dumplings, Spinach Dumplings, and Shanghainese Steamed Pork Dumplings. The signature desserts include the Loyal Soufflé and Egg Waffle with Ice Cream.

Loyal Dining’s Classic Menu, either for one ($328) or for two ($428), features a scrumptious east-meets-west selection of dishes. Diners start the meal with a delicious dim sum platter, followed by one of Loyal Dining’s specialty soups. Main course options are Pigeon with Crispy or Simmered in Homemade Soy Sauce, Stuffed Chicken Wings with Vegetarian Fin, or Roasted African Chicken with Herb Gravy.

Diners can then choose between rice or noodles, with a varied selection including Fried Noodle with Black Truffle, and Fried Rice with Fresh Crab Meat and Vegetables. The menu is completed with Loyal Dining’s Old-Fashioned Sundae.

As Loyal Dining’s Executive Director Cherry Lo explains,“We recapture the classic taste of Hong Kong’s colonial past through both taste and the entire ambience, bringing back a genuine classic dining experience.Loyal Dining is nostalgic for those reacquainting themselves with experiences from their childhood, or the younger generation fascinated to savour Hong Kong’s past.”

Underlining the retro theme is a statue of "Lap Sap Chung"by Loyal Dining’s entrance. It is an iconic, anti-social fictional character of the eranamed after the Cantonese term for “litterbug”, lionised in a government campaign to keep Hong Kong clean.

Loyal Dining is the perfect destination for late-night dim sum, as it stays open until 4am on Fridays, Saturdays and public holiday eves.
