Firefly Airlines is spearheading the effort to provide rescue and relief flights to and from Kota Bharu, Kelantan and Kuala Terengganu, Terengganu as part of its contribution to channeling emergency assistance to those affected by the floods in the east coast of Malaysia.

Immediately, all available seats and cargo space aboard Firefly flights to and from these two airports will be donated and used for the cause.

"We call on everyone, be it government bodies, NGOs or private groups and organizations and the general public, to get in touch with the Firefly collection centers to find out how you can make use of this service.

"With the number of evacuees exceeding 100,000 people and counting, I cannot stress how important it is for all of us to set aside our differences, come together and unite to help our fellow Malaysians in their time of need.

"It is Firefly's duty to serve the nation and we would like make the process simple, efficient and convenient," said Ignatius Ong, Chief Executive Officer.

Three collection centers have been set up and ready to receive donations in the form of goods such as blankets, sarongs, diapers, infant milk, biscuits, coffee and dry food. These are:
1.
Firefly Biz Lounge, First Floor, Skypark Subang Terminal, Lapangan Terbang Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah, 47200 Subang, Selangor. Tel: 03-7846 3684

2.
Firefly Airport Ticketing Center Kota Bharu, Sultan Ismail Petra Airport, 16100 Kota Bharu, Kelantan.

"IMARET is grateful for the swift response by Firefly to our call for assistance. Today, we have sent three medical officers - two to Kota Bharu and one to Kuala Terengganu, along with 200 kilograms of emergency and medical supplies. As more volunteers and donation are pouring in, we will rely heavily on Firefly's network to ensure aid reaches the victims in a timely manner," said IMAM's president, Professor Dato’ Dr Abd. Rahim Mohamad.

If you are participating in relief efforts, or if you and/or your families are affected by the floods, please contact us at Tel: 03-89263034.

Volunteers, especially those with medical and first aid experience, are welcomed," he added.

Firefly’s collection centers are open daily from 9am to 5pm. Space permitting, all cargo will be despatched immediately to the affected areas or on the next available flight.
