SHANGRI-LA HOTEL, PARIS PRESENTS
VELAZQUEZ ARTEA TIME
Shangri-La Hotel, Paris’ head pastry chef, François Perret, presents a new ARTea Time dedicated to Spanish master Diego Velázquez under the glass dome of La Bauhinia restaurant every Wednesday afternoon from 25 March to 8 July 2015.

On the strength of the last three ARTea Times dedicated to Georges Braque, Joséphine Bonaparte and Paul Durand-Ruel, Chef François has imagined this time a dessert to mirror the exhibition dedicated to the master of Spanish painting, Diego Velázquez, at the Grand Palais.

This gourmet dessert consists of a light mousse with almonds topped with delicious candied fruits – apricots, figs, oranges and cherries – enhanced with a hint of ginger.  A dark chocolate frame surrounds this creation, like a real painting.

To finish in style, each person will receive a fast-track ticket at the end of the ARTea Time for them to discover Velázquez’s masterpieces at the Grand Palais.

Art and gourmet pleasure are the watchwords this spring at Shangri-La Hotel, Paris.

ARTea Time includes the Classic Tea Time, the “Velázquez” dessert and a fast-track ticket per person (valid for the exhibition).  The Velázquez ARTea Time is available on Wednesday afternoons from 25 March to 8 July 2015, 3:30 to 5:30 p.m., at €49 per person upon reservation at (33 1) 5367 1991.  Seats are limited.

The Grand Palais will feature “Velázquez” from 25 March to 13 July 2015.  The first French retrospective devoted to the master of Spanish painting is the cultural event of spring 2015 and a unique opportunity to see in France Velázquez’s masterpieces, as his production was rare.

Velázquez was a baroque painter considered to be one of the main representatives of Spanish painting and one of the masters of universal painting.  His masterpieces are ranked on the same level as a few very major painters: Titian, Rubens, Caravaggio and Rembrandt.
