THERE IS A BELIEF WHEN TIMES ARE BAD WE ALL YEARN FOR THE GOOD OLD DAYS WHEN LIFE WAS SIMPLER AND MCDONALDS WERE RM1.80 AND A TERRACE HOUSE IN BANGSAR WAS RM 100,000. HMMM, MAYBE THE TIME HAS COME... FOR A TRIP DOWN MEMORY LANE FOR THE 50-SOMETHINGS AND A PSYCHEDELIC TRIP FOR THE 20-SOMETHINGS
THE FASHION TREND GOES ALL THE WAY BACK TO THE 1940S WHICH IS RATHER STRANGE AS WE WERE JUST RECOVERING FROM WORLD WAR 2 AND FASHION, FRIVOLITY AND FLIRTATIOUSNESS MUST HAVE BEEN THE LAST THINGS ON THE 'TO DO' LIST!
TIMEX HAS TAKEN A MORE APPROACHABLE TACK BY STEPPING BACK 3 DECADES TO THE EXCITING EIGHTIES WHICH WERE RECOVERING FROM 'SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER' AND BELL BOTTOMS.
The 1980s were a transitional period as Sonny and Cher had just helped define the 1970s so the 1980s were a period of carefree fun before Joan Collins and 'Dynasty' took over. Dunno what I am rambling about? Oh yeah right, forgot you were born in the Eighties...
Suffice to say TIMEX's new retro-groovy ('groovy' then was used in lieu of 'cool' or 'sweet') collection of 1980s inspired watches is focusing on the technological marvel of the time---digital technology! Back then, most watches were analogue as in mechanical, hand wound watches and digital watches were equivalent to today's handphones and Ipads.
This cool and groovy collection must be geared for the 20 to 30 year old market who probably have never seen an original G-Shock watch or even Techno-marine watch. When these psychedelic watches in rainbow colours were the rage, the 30-year old today had just been born.
Well, for those who missed out the Exciting Eighties, you can rewind time with the new TIMEX 80 Collection.
As a TIMEX does not boast a tourbillon, their prices will not throw your budget back a few months. Prices start from RM 199 to RM 269 for the Classics, RM 240 to RM 269 for Special Edition, RM 275 to RM 320 for Jumbo and RM 330 for Calculator.
TIMEX has timed it just right as many are belt-tightening and even I am doing the same but due to the blessings of Buddha, Kuan Yin, Jesus and Mother Mary, I have to tighten my belt as I have lost weight and not due to financial woes. At my heaviest, I was 74 kg and now, praise be to all the pantheon of gods and goddesses, I am now a rather svelte 64 kg though I am half starving to death to reach 61 kg.
LET'S ALL REVIVE THE VIBRANCY AND PALETTE OF THE 80S WITH TIMEX 80!
AT THESE GROOVY PRICES, WHY SETTLE FOR ONE WHEN YOU CAN HAVE A DOZEN?
These are my favourites!
