Rachel Tan Weng Kim, 29 has wedded the man of her dream, handsome Dan Mark,30, from Los Angeles! So she is now out of the running should you contemplate chasing after her!
The former Miss Malaysia was the first and only to win the Miss Chinese International pageant in Hong Kong in 2003 when she competed against 12 other Chinese beauties from all over the world. I met her soon after to do a story and was so impressed by her brains and beauty (she is practically a female version of me!) I brought her to meet Bernard Yong, general manager of Swatch Group Malaysia and vice-president of Rado Malaysia. Having good taste like me, Yong was also impressed and signed Rachel Tan to be Rado's ambassador! All due to me and my machinations! Rachel Tan was flown to Switzerland to visit Rado's HQ and factory (without me, the introducer, sad to say) and was a great success.
Rachel Tan continued her study in law and obtained a Bachelor's law degree from University of Sheffield and not contented with it, went on to graduate in Master's degree in Law from University of Cambridge which proves she is All brains and All beauty!
Dan Mark (who was not even born in Denmark) is a lucky man but then he is a preacher and missionary apart from being a lawyer! So this staunch Christian's prayers to God have been answered abundantly! Both are serious Christians and their wedding was very Christ-oriented, complete with a pastor on stage.
Mind you, Rachel Tan was not a virgin on her wedding party at Le Meridien hotel in Kuala Lumpur! Yes, I can claim this fact; Rachel Tan was not a virgin on her wedding night in Kuala Lumpur!
Oh well, it is not such a scandal after all as she and Dan Mark were married some 5 months ago at Bel Air Bay Club in Palisades, Malibu in California, USA so we can safely presumed she lost her virginity to her husband that very night!
One of her guests and bride's maids, Carrie Lee who was Miss Chinese Cosmos 2004 was already pregnant on her wedding on 11/11/11 and when I saw her with her dishy husband, she was some 6 months pregnant and a little bulge could be seen under her Carven Ong gown! Giggled Carrie Lee, "My husband made me pregnant so I had to marry him!" Well, that is one way of getting hitched to the woman you desire!
But Rachel Tan looked pencil slim in her Keith Kee gowns with a flat stomach so she cannot be pregnant.
Guest of honour was Tan Sri Francis Yeoh who arrived when Rachel Tan was away changing into her white wedding gown. So once again I had to be the introducer as I hurriedly went to grab Dan Mark to introduce him to his VIP guest which he had not met before. I introduced the groom to Tan Sri Francis Yeoh and Rachel's father came to join them.
Said Tan Sri Francis Yeoh whose company YTL Group is Malaysia's foremost Christian company, "I have been taking care of Rachel's spiritual needs for the past few years." It was YTL Group which sponsored Rachel's scholarship in Cambridge so Rachel Tan and her spiritual mentor have remained friends.
Dan Mark's father died when he was little and his stepfather went on the stage to make a speech. Dan's stepdad, a trauma surgeon, recalled helping Dan build a wooden guitar some 18 years ago.
Dan graduated in law from prestigious Stanford University and went to Hong Kong on Christian missionary work where he met Rachel. It was love at first sight and after just one and half years, they got married!
Around 200 attended their Malaysian wedding and Le Meridien ballroom was beautifully decked in pristine hues of white and cream.
Rachel Tan shed tears of joy on stage as she read her vow and heard Dan's declaration of love for each other. At times like these, I wish I could marry too but Jesus Christ and Buddha told me I am not destined to marry in this lifetime and kalpa but in the next I will be born an Emperor and billions will worship me as a living deity so at least I have something to look forward to should the world end this December 2012 and another kalpa begins.
Where were we? Oh, Rachel's wedding.
After their wedding was solemnised, we all yelled for a wedding kiss and the couple willingly obliged. Then the pair went outside to pose against their photo wall and I asked them to kiss again which they obliged. Grinned Dan, "Well, I can do this all night as it tastes so good!" I suppose we have to take his word as I never kissed Rachel Tan on her lips and at the rate she and Dan were going, I bet their tongues were licking and flicking each other too and they seemed so reluctant to disengage their mouths from each other's.
Another unexpected thing----Dan Mark is a great dancer and so is Rachel but he is the better groover! A dancing lawyer cum missionary! How lucky can Rachel get?
Congratulations and I expect to attend the full moon of their son in LA and KL!
