MARK TWAIN THE FAMOUS AMERICAN AUTHOR OF 'ADVENTURES OF TOM SAWYER' AND 'ADVENTURES OF HUCKLEBERRY FINN' ONCE GAVE HIS WIFE A PRESENT ON A MONDAY.
As it was not her birthday, their wedding anniversary, Mother's Day or even Christmas, she was bemused at the beautifully wrapped present so she asked him the rson. The wise author replied, "Because it is Monday".
For the naive and innocent who cannot read between the lines, it means anyday is a a goo
y to give a present! In other words, you don't need an excuse or special event to give a gift from the heart.
Ditto for throwing a dinner party!
Some invited guests asked me why she was throwing a party since the invite mentioned no reason. A few asked if it was her birthday or wedding anniversary as hubby Michael Manttz happened to be in town. Most already knew she was hosting a huge birthday party but that is on 20 May, more than a month to go!
The reason was no reason at all!
Explained the beauteous Princess Dr Becky Leogardo, "There is no reason at all apart from the fact I wanted to gather all my good friends under my roof for a simple but good meal." Washed down with Moet & Chandon champagne I might add as I drank 6 glasses.
All brought house gifts like wine, flowers, biscuits and the usual niceties. I brought my presence as present as I cut short my stay in Koh Samui to fly back to arrive at 7pm. I had to cancel my Bangkok Airways ticket and get Firefly ticket to depart Koh Samui at 2.55pm instead of Bangkok Airways flight at 5pm.
The food was catered by professional cooks while the appetisers were homemade by Princess Dr Becky's inhouse chefs.
It was a lovely, pleasant and delightful dinner as the 60 guests mingled and caught up with each other. There were ambassadors and their spouses from Russia, USA, France, Morocco, Denmark and Holland as well as Roland Folger the President and CEO of Mercedes-Benz Malaysia, Dato Ann Eu chairman of Eu Yan Sang, Joyce Yap CEO of Pavilion, June Wong Managing Editor of Star Publications and businessman husband K K Tan, tycoon entrepreneur Tan Sri Jason Goh and Puan Sri Pernille Goh, tycoon Tan Sri Othman Marican and Puan Sri Sylvia and Dutch multi-millioniare Cornelius and his sexy Czech wife whose plunging neckline and big boobs were the envy of all. More so wehn I truthfully pointed out Mrs Cornelius's assets were 3 to 4 times bigger than all the other women. As she was 178cm, she carried her chest so well. CAornelius's partner Marco, also from Holland, looked like Sam Worthington, the actor in Avatar.
A surprise awaited all guest as they left; each was given a giant orange umbrella, Alexa beauty products and an entire case of expensive grapes! Worth around RM 500!
