The surprise birthday party was organised by Tan Sri Datuk Wira Dr Jason Goh with clockwork precision. As he feared news might leak back to his wife's ears and spoil his grand plans, he only phoned his guests some 48 hours before the actual date!
Opined the tycoon, "I notice you can call your friends at the last minute and the chances of them being able to attend are the same as informing them 3 weeks in advance! Some would be unable to attend as they would be overseas, some are unsure till the time is nearer and some say they cannot make it then are able to make it at the last minute. Or some RSVP to say they can come and then apologise at the last minute to say they cannot attend due to an emergency!
"So you can call your friends a day or two before the event and know for certain whether they can come or not. As a surprise birthday party, this is possible but of course not if you are hosting a wedding!" grins the affable and hospitable Tan Sri Jason Goh.
Guests duly arrived up to an hour before Tan Sri Jason Goh arrived with Puan Sri Pernille who hails from Denmark so that everyone could jump and greet the surprised Birthday Girl,
And surprised and stunned and shocked was Puan Sri Pernille who stood and gasped as so many friends rushed towards to kiss her.
Since she knew it was her birthday, Tan Sri Jason could not surprise her as Puan Sri is in full control of her mental faculties and not senile or suffering from Alzheimer's disease. Grinned the Birthday Girl, "My husband said he was throwing a birthday dinner for the family and around 12 would be attending. He was so sneaky and even took me to Lafite and then said 'I change my mind, let's go downstairs to the new restaurant. So I was really stunned to see so many friends! And I was really, really surprised!"
Around 60 guests and family members feasted on a lavish spread that was so extensive and expensive and elaborate it proved how much he loved her. And also what a bad mathematician he is as he over ordered the food!
There was so much food left over even after the guests had gorged to their Plimsoll line that he could have invited another 50 guests! The sumptuous spread must have cost at least RM 300 per person!
