RAFFLESIA PEARL CENTRE UNDER WINNIE SIN AND HUBBY SIN CHEANG LOONG WAS THE BIG WINNER AT THE 25TH FESTIVAL FILEM MALAYSIA AWARDS LAST NIGHT ON 2 MARCH 2013 AT PICC (PUTRA INTERNATIONAL CONVENTION CENTRE).
Rafflesia Pearl Centre, which specialises in pearl, ruby and jade, loaned fabulous jewels to select stars worth some RM 500,000 and sponsored RM 50,000 worth of jewels to the winners.
The presenters continuously mentioned 'Rafflesia Pearl Centre' which generated huge amount of publicity as Rafflesia deserved since they were a major sponsor.
Rafflesia even took a full page advertisement in the inside front cover of the official yearbook of the Silver Anniversary of Festival Filem Malaysia 2013.
The mother of top actor Shaheizy Sam even bought a gorgeous pearl and diamond necklace worth RM 180,000 and was seen showing it off during the photocall and at the After Party.
As expected, the women came dressed to kill and thrill but a few men came as if they had just finished shopping at a pasar malam! I was shocked at their attire and I am referring to male presenters who went on stage and should know better. This was a night to honour their craft and if they could not be bothered to dress up, then they should not have gone on stage looking like they were applying for the job of a movie extra!
The invitation stated 'Blacktie Glamour' and poor as they are, they could still borrow from friends or come in long sleeved batek shirt.The 2 hosts were Erra Fazira and Fahrin Ahmad who looked stunning and Erra changed thrice. However, Erra Fazira's hairdo irked me so much if I had a pair of scissors on hand, I would have gone on stage and cut off an irritating mop of hair that covered her entire right profile.
She should sue her hair dresser and stylist for suggesting this stupid hairdo or else have her brains checked if this was her idea of promoting her crowning glory. First, it did not do justice to her pretty face as those on the left could not see her face at all. Second, the annoying, loose bangs kept falling over her eye and cheek and she had to constantly brush it back. Why not wear a tudung?
Finally, she must have been told her hair needed to be fixed as she had her loose-cannon stray hair neatly brushed back and pinned nicely for her last change of clothes!
Her couture garments were gorgeous and she looked divine in her third and final appearance when she wore a blue gown.
However, the organisers should have vetted her first outfit which opened the show and got everyone talking. This was the 25th anniversary of Festival Filem Malaysia and not its death or last ceremony or funeral.

Everyone expected Erra Fazira to wear a silver gown since this was FFM's Silver Anniversary but she wore total black from head to toe which gave the appearance she was attending a funeral! as Fahrin Ahmad also wore black tuxedo (which was fine since it was obligatory for men to be in black tuxedo), the duo projected a sad, gloomy and depressing sight when they appeared amid the glitz and glittering backdrop!
I think FFM should appoint me as Fashion Advisor next year.
