The event which was staged at Aloft Kuala Lumpur Sentral, saw the venue transformed into modern French art-deco with a total indulgent tres chic look to opitomise Kronenbourg’s inspiration of the most flamboyant periods of the French “art de vivre”.

Carlsberg entered the Malaysian fashion market in 2011 signing up the legendary Datuk Jimmy Choo as mentor for its Kronenbourg 1664 L’Aperitif Fashion showcase,  the glamorous French version of Happy Hour, with STYLO.

Soren Ravn, Managing Director of Carlsberg Malaysia quoted “Kronenbourg 1664 has always been a progressive brand that cultivates cultures. In Malaysia, the growing fashion scene defined the perfect opportunity for the brand because of its French roots and personality. As such, we are not only committed to being part of the industry through sponsorships but insist on shaping perceptions and progressing the industry further through our Kronenbourg 1664 L'Aperitif Fashion platform.”

He added,” Kronenbourg 1664 L'Aperitif Fashion (LAF) last year comprised the fashion industry's finest minds. This year, we are pushing the boundaries further. Our goal is to progressively cultivate and enhance the fashion industry by giving inspiring designers an opportunity to launch their careers under the mentorship of Gillian Hung, President of MODA and Dato Professor Jimmy Choo, OBE as the patron.”

The night kicked off with a spectacular showcase by Mercedes-Benz STYLO Designer of the Year 2012, Bill Keith, fresh from his Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, Mexico City gig in September last year.  His collection saw a myriad of designs inspired by the multi ethnicity of Malaysia, called “Tropical Delusions”, with a touch of French.

Dato’ Nancy Yeoh, President and CEO of Stylo said, “All things French are indeed exciting. Tonight we capture the essence of Victor Hugo’s “Les Miserables” but give it the usual STYLO twist, hence the NOT. Our partnership with Kronenbourg 1664 has given us the platform to present theatrical fashion in its best with limitless creativity.”

L’Aperitif fashion evening continued with A Cut Above helmed by Winnie Loo, who presented a diverse selection of French avant-garde hair designs at the show. The hair presentation literally reached dizzying heights with its “Miraculous” hair show, leaving much to the guests’ imagination.

The night also witnessed the extravagant, luxurious styles and collection showcased by Tangoo and Carven Ong.

The highlight of the evening was the special appearance by Malaysian Supermodel Amber Chia who dazzled in a unique, never before seen dress made of 3000 Kronenbourg 1664 bottle caps conceptualised by STYLO and designed by Alexander Yeo.

I think a thousand bottle caps fell off on stage!

As a sneak peak to Mercedes-Benz STYLO first ever public fashion show called STYLO LIVE! to be held on Friday at KL Twin Towers, the audience were entertained by dazzling performances of aerialist, stilt walkers, fire-eater, unicyclist, hoop dancer and electro grinders flown in specially by STYLO Worlwide as a 6-member circus-based performing arts contingent from London.

STYLO International was set up to create fringe events to support world class motorsport activities in the region. Motorsport activities have seen tremendous jump in Asia as it is the sports of choice for the affluent male; the same way affluent females covert couture fashion. Hence, the use of fashion as the excuse for this stylish fringe activity. STYLO is essentially a Malaysian slang for the word ‘style’. The ‘O’ in STYLO denotes that fashion evolves in a circle.
