Collection of Rare Timepieces Offered in Antiquorum’s May Auction

Auctioneers, the world’s premier watch auctioneer, presents its May 11th auction of “Important Modern & Vintage Timepieces” to
be held at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Geneva. Collectors can look forward
to bidding on 293 outstanding timepieces.
Highlighting the sale are some
exceptional references from Patek Philippe, Rolex, Richard Mille and Vacheron
Constantin. Previews will be held in Hong Kong as well as Geneva.
The highlight of
the sale is a Patek Philippe Ref. 2499, Third Series in 18K yellow gold.
Sold in 1967, it is an extremely rare 18K yellow gold wristwatch with round
button chronograph, perpetual calendar and moon phase accompanied by the
Certificate of Origin, box and pouch. Property of the family of the original
owner, this exceptional timepiece remains in close to new condition and
represents a rare opportunity to acquire one of the finest of the third series
ever to appear at auction.

experts are also delighted to offer a Patek Philippe Ref. 5959 Coaxial Split-Seconds
Chronograph, sold in 2009. This very fine and rare platinum and diamond
wristwatch features a coaxial round button split-seconds chronograph and
register. It is accompanied by the Patek Philippe fitted box, Certificate of
Origin and instructions.

Rolex
collectors will want to bid on the Rolex Ref. 6241 Paul Newman. Sold in 1971, this is a very rare stainless steel
wristwatch with anti-reflective black tachometer bezel, round button
chronograph, registers and a Rolex Ref. 7205 stainless steel Oyster riveted
bracelet. The watch is further accompanied by the original warranty,
instruction booklet, and an overhaul receipt from a retailer dated 2011.

Another
outstanding Rolex offered is the Rolex Ref 5513 Submariner 3-6-9 Dial. Made in 1964, this is a very rare, center seconds
self-winding stainless steel wristwatch with a stainless steel Rolex bracelet
and deployant clasp. This Explorer dial version of the 5513 is, according to
Antiquorum experts, only the third of its kind to appear on the market.

is also pleased to present a Greubel Forsey Invention Piece No. 3. Made in a limited edition of 11 pieces in white gold
in circa 2007, this is a very important 18K white gold wristwatch with 24-hour
indication, 25° inclined visible inner 24-second tourbillon regulator, 72-hour
power reserve indicator and an 18K white gold Greubel Forsey double deployant
clasp. It is accompanied by the original wooden box with beveled glass window,
numbered certificate of authenticity, pouch and white gloves.

Another
exceptional modern watch offered is a Richard Mille RM006 Titanium Tourbillon,
07/20. Produced circa
2006, this is a very fine and unusual tonneau-shaped and curved, titanium
wristwatch with visible one-minute tourbillon regulator, 70 hour power reserve and
titanium Richard Mille clasp. Developed in conjunction with Felipe Masa, the
RM006 was made in a limited edition of 20 pieces and was the first baseplate in
nano carbonfiber weighing in at an amazing 42 grams and resistant up to 500G.
It was put to the test when Masa experienced a near fatal accident at the
Hungarian Grand Prix wearing a similar watch that escaped unharmed unlike
Felipe who broke his skull but thankfully recovered. Never offered at auction
before, the RM006 is already part of the legacy of the celebrated Richard Mille
brand.

Also
offered is a limited edition Vacheron Constantin Patrimony Great Explorers
“Magellan” Yellow Gold Wandering Hour Watch with Champleve Enamel Dial. Made in a limited edition of 60 pieces as a tribute to
Ferdinand Magellan (1480-1521) starting in 2004, this is an extremely fine and
rare 18K yellow gold wristwatch with wandering hours and hand enameled on
goldchampleve enamel dial by Jean & Lucie Genbrugge. It is accompanied by
the original Vacheron Constantin fitted box, Certificate of Origin, setting
pin, CD and instructions.

The Rolex
collector will also appreciate the Rolex Ref. 6202 “Monometer” in steel
produced in 1953. This
is a fine and rare center-seconds wristwatch with Rolex stainless steel Jubilee
bracelet and deployant clasp. Only five examples of this reference have
appeared on the market in the last twenty years. It is known as the earliest
Submariner despite not yet carrying the name. This example is equipped with its
original bezel and represents a rare opportunity to complete one’s early
Submariner collection.

Antiquorum experts
are also pleased to present a Patek Philippe Ref. 894 Squellete Dress Watch.
Sold in 1983, it is a rare 18K yellow gold skeletonized, keyless dress watch.
This appears to be only the fourth example of the Patek Philippe Squelette
dress watch to be offered at auction. It remains in extremely good condition
and is sold with the original box and Certificate of Origin.

Also
offered in the May sale is an Omega with Cloisonne Dial depicting Neptune’s
Chariot being drawn by two seahorses. Produced in 1952, the watch is mounted in a later
Seamaster Ref. 2767-6 5C gold-plated case. It is accompanied by an Omega
extract from the Archives. This watch represents possibly the fourth
undiscovered chariot enamel dial as scholars believe only five were ever made.
The original case has been replaced but it retains its original movement. The
dial was produced by Nelly Richard, an enamel artist who worked for Stern
Freres from the late 1940’s to the 1950’s. The enamel dial has been maintained
in perfect condition and is an excellent opportunity to acquire one of the most
breathtaking Omegas’s ever produced.
