EASTERN & ORIENTAL EXPRESS COLLABORATES WITH SAVE WILD TIGERS IN 2014 This October, South-East Asia’s most luxurious train is partnering with Save Wild Tigers on a once in a lifetime journey. The train will be renamed the ‘Eastern & Oriental Tiger Express’and leave Singapore on 2nd October, travelling through Malaysia and Thailand with a contribution from each booking to be given to the charity. Highlights of this special adventure include two nights aboard the train, a night at Raffles Singapore and Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok, tickets to a star-studded gala evening in Kuala Lumpur and onboard lectures by tiger experts. There will also be the chance to bid for a crystal-encrusted tiger head whilst on the train, which was created especially for this collaboration. BELMOND CHARLESTON PLACE LAUNCHES ‘WINE BUCKET LIST’ Belmond Charleston Placein Charleston, South Carolina has launched a special ‘bucket list’ of rare wines at its award-winning Charleston Grill restaurant. Carefully curated by the hotel’s dedicated sommeliers, the list includes coveted wines such as a 2004 J. L. Chave Hermitage, 1999 Domaine Romanée-Conti Vosne-Romanée and 2001 Gaja Langhe Sori Tilden. The cellar at Charleston Grill stores over 1,250 bottles and its wine-by-the-glass list features a section of at least six ‘bucket list’ wines, priced from £90 for a single glass. Customised tasting menus can also be created to pair with the wines, such as a 2004 Trimbach Riesling ‘Clos St.-Hune’ with oysters, a 2006 Vincent Girardin Chevalier-Montrachet with lobster and uni butter pappardelle, or the 2005 Shafer Cabernet Sauvignon ‘Hillside Select’ with grilled lamb rack. ‘POP-UP’ DINNERS ON BOARD BELMOND BRITISH PULLMAN – 2014 LINE-UP Tom Kerridge, Executive Chef of award-winning pub restaurant The Hand and Flowers in Marlow, is the next celebrity chef to join Belmond British Pullman, sister train to the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express, for an exclusive pop-up dinner. On 12th July, Tom and his team are set to make a new first by re-creating their two Michelin starred public house on board the luxury UK day train. Vivek Singh, Tom Sellers and Mosimanns are just some of the other celebrated chefs set to host celebrity ‘pop-up’ dinners for 100 guests on Belmond British Pullman on an array of dates in 2014. BELMOND MOUNT NELSON HOTEL CELEBRATES WORLD DESIGN CAPITAL 2014 Belmond Mount Nelson Hotel in Cape Town, South Africa, has introduced a pop-up township art gallery and design-themed electric bicycle tour to showcase the city’s World Design Capital 2014 status. The area between the hotel’s Planet Restaurant and Planet Bar has been transformed into a pop-up art space called Nkanyezi Gallery, organised in partnership with official World Design Capital project the Maboneng Township Art Experience.Guests can also explore Cape Town’s design highlights on a guided electric bicycle tour with Cycology. The rolling shopping trip explores the centre of the city and its myriad of independently owned boutiques, trendy coffee spots and design treasures. A HIGHLAND GAMES ADVENTURE WITH BELMOND ROYAL SCOTSMAN Belmond Royal Scotsman, the UK’s only luxury sleeper train, offers the perfect location for a private party, wedding or corporate event for up to 36 guests. HEAD CHEF CHRISTIAN BODIGUEL CELEBRATES 30 YEARS ON BOARD THE VENICE SIMPLON-ORIENT-EXPRESS This season marks 30 years on board the legendary Venice Simplon-Orient-Express for Executive Head Chef, Christian Bodiguel. Over the past three decades, drawing inspiration from the train’s well-loved destinations including Istanbul, Vienna, Krakow, Prague and Venice and most recently Brussels, Christian has prepared an array of  seasonal and regional dishes in a narrow galley kitchen for 180 guests on board each journey. Christian’s signature dishes, which include Charolais beef served with truffle caviar in autumn or roast salt marsh lamb with sage flavoured polenta throughout the summer, have been enjoyed by royal families, dignitaries and celebrities alike. BELMOND LA RESIDENCIA STOCKS DIAMOND JEWELLED PERFUME Belmond La Residencia in Deia, Mallorca has become the first Spanish outlet to stock jewellery designer Vanessa Tugendhaft’s debut range of perfumes. Les Eaux Diamantées features three floral fragrances – Or Blanc (White Gold) with fig, jasmine, orange blossom, bergamot, pink berries and mint; Or Rose (Pink Gold) which includes white musk, honey and orange blossom petals; and Or Jaune (Yellow Gold) with ylang-ylang, blackcurrant, green tea and rose. Each bottle is features a removable diamond rose motif. Once the perfume is finished, this can be released and set on a coloured thread or small chain as a necklace or bracelet at no extra cost.The perfumes will be sold in Belmond La Residencia’s luxurious spa, which also offers facial and body treatments using real diamond dust. BELMOND’S SICILIAN HOTELS LAUNCH MOUNT ETNA WINE TOUR Belmond Grand Hotel Timeo and Belmond Villa Sant’Andrea in Taormina, Sicily have launched a new tour of Mount Etna’s ancient wine-growing regions, taking guests through the lava terraces, wineries, vineyards and palmentos of Europe’s largest volcano. Wine enthusiasts will board a train on the iconic Ferrovia Circumetnea, a narrow-gauge railway line that loops around Mount Etna, before visiting the three wineries Planeta, one of Sicily’s most exclusive wine producers. Following a guided tour of the vineyards, guests will be shown how the acclaimed wine is produced and enjoy a degustation tasting followed by a light lunch before heading back to Taormina.
