Created by El Grande Concepts, Grappa’s is one of Hong Kong’s most popular and accessible Italian family restaurants. It is renowned for its fine Italian cuisine served in a warm, casual atmosphere by some of the friendliest staff in town. Grappa’s is where families and city workers alike can unwind over a glass of vino, a bowl of fresh pasta and a hearty steak. Grappa’s prides itself on its authentic home-style Italian recipes. Italian Chef Marco Bajma and his team prepare all the sauces, pastas, sausages and desserts in the restaurant’s bustling kitchen using premium ingredients, such as the finest imported semolina flour, Extra Virgin olive oils and some of the world’s best natural cheeses from Italy and the USA. Grappa’s also bakes its own bread fresh daily with no artificial preservatives. The extensive menu features classic renditions of traditional Italian favorites, such as the favorite appetizers of Carpaccio Di Manzo (RMB 96) with thiny sliced beef tenderloin and Cesto Di Vongole (RMB 148) with jet-fresh clams in a garlic and parsley broth. Pastas include Penne All’Aragosta (RMB 168) with fresh lobster and Grappa cream; and Risotto Al Tartufo Nero (RMB 188) with black truffle, chicken jus and parmesan cookie. A selection of gourmet pizzas arealso available, served piping hot from the wood-fired pizza oven. Signature mains include Osso Buco (RMB 178) of veal shank in Barolo red wine sauce with risotto; and Arrosto di Agnello di Rosmarino (RMB 208) with roasted lamb chops with fennel Parmesan gratin and rosemary Port sauce. The Bistecca alla Griglia for two (RMB 298) features imported Argentinian Sirloin steak accompanied by roasted herb potatoes and green beans. Be sure to save room for Grappa’s beloved desserts, such as homemade Tiramisu (RMB 68) and Torta Al Formaggio di Casa Grappa (RMB 50) – Grappa’s classic Italian cheesecake. A large hand-picked wine selection includes a number of labels imported directly by Grappa’s from small individual Italian vineyards from all over Italy such as Torre di Ciardo, Marchesi Torrigiani (RMB 338) from Tuscany, and Pinot Grigio, Monte Zovo(RMB 216) from Venice. Grappa’s Shanghai features a spacious and warm open dining room, plus a casual café at the entrance and a sit-up bar counter with a total seating capacity of 120 diners. A small retail area also sells fresh breads, olive oils, exclusive-to-Grappa’s Italian wines and other homemade and Italian imported deli delights. The design by 4N Architects features an open kitchen and pizza oven, rustic wood tables and Italian-red accents. Black and white photographs of Italian landmarks hang on the walls and colorful displays of fresh vegetables, condiments and wine bottles give the space a vibrant ambience akin to an Italian marketplace. Grappa’s is open from 10am – midnight daily with the Espresso set business lunch served from 11:30am-2:30pm from Monday to Friday. Direct access from the Shanghai Metro to Grappa’s is available from Jing’An Temple Lines 2 & 7.
