Introducing: FACIT @ Intrude
Malaysia 2014 & Malaysia Fashion Week 2014
Marking its debut as a national and international event, the
inaugural Malaysia Fashion Week (MFW) 2014 will bring together Malaysian and
international fashion distributors to Kuala Lumpur from 17 to 22 October 2014
with a trade exhibition called FACIT (Fashion, Art, Cosmetics, Interiors and
Textile).
This ground breaking event will be further supported by a series of fabulous
fashion shows, featuring 65 designers from 15 countries, and stylish gala
events.
FACIT is the lifestyle component of MATRADE’s
trade initiative INTRADE (International Trade Malaysia), a very successful
national and international trade fair that has been running for the past 7
years.
In its 8th edition this year, MATRADE is taking a quantum
leap in faith for lifestyle and creativity as key growth areas for Malaysia
with special emphasis on Fashion, Art, Cosmetics, Interiors and Textile.
The 2014 INTRADE has 412 exhibitors
from over 12 countries and 300 trade buyers from 17 to 22 October 2014 and will
be hosted at Menara MATRADE, KL. The event will also see the biggest Fashion
Week Sale open to the public for only 8 hours from 2:00pm to 10:00 pm on the
final day (22 Oct 2014), with a variety of high quality fashion and lifestyle
products up for grabs.
MFW is a collaborative effort between national trade promotion agency
MATRADE (Malaysia External Trade Development
Corporation) and the country’s leading fashion event organiser STYLO International, supported by the
Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI).
This
event will mark the first dedicated trade fashion event organised by a
Government Agency (MATRADE) in partnership with the private sector and its
multinational collaborators at an international level.
The partnership with Stylo
International also sees the injection of the Mercedes-Benz Stylo Asia Fashion
Week (MBSAFW) into further boosting MFW. The MBSAFW is a joint collaborative
effort of Stylo International and luxury automaker Mercedes-Benz. MBSAFW will
see designers from 15 Asian countries showcase their work using the MFW as its
Asian platform and INTRADE as its trade collaborator.
Mercedes-Benz will also
be displaying the sleek lines of their brand new Mercedes-Benz C200 within the
FACIT installation.
With this jam packed program full of
dynamic events, MFW aims to elevate Malaysia into a major fashion hub both in
Asia and internationally.

WHEN I WAS INVITED TO JOIN THE HARD HAT TOUR OF THE INSTALLATION OF THE BAJU OF MALAYSIA'S TOP DESIGNERS, I ASSUMED IT WAS JUST RHETORIC.
WHEN I ARRIVED, I WAS ACTUALLY GIVEN A YELLOW HARD HAT TO WEAR!
THIS CAUSED A MIN HEART ATTACK AS I ASSUMED MATRADE BUILDING WAS SO SHODDILY BUILT USING CHEAP MATERIALS AND CEMENT MIXED WITH SAND TO CUT COSTS THAT THE CEILINGS WERE CRACKING AND THE SLABS OF CONCRETE COULD FALL ON MY HEAD AT ANY MINUTE!
SO I LOOKED UP TO CHECK IF THERE WERE ANY CRACKS IN THE CEILING OR WERE THE FLOORS WARPING AS THESE ARE SURE SIGNS OF IMMINENT COLLAPSE OF MATRADE BUILDING. AFTER ALL, IF A STADIUM CAN CRASH, MATRADE CAN ALSO SUFFER SUCH A FATE AND BUDDHA SAID I COULD NOT DIE A VIRGIN.
I TAPPED THE WALLS AND THEY SEEMED SOLID ENOUGH. IN FACT EVERYTHING WAS SHIP SHAPE AND THERE WERE NO HAIRLINE CRACKS ON THE CEILING, WALL OR FLOOR SO I WAS SAFE AS HOUSES!
SO THE YELLOW HARD HATS WERE JUST FASHION FUN ACCESSORIES AND AT NO TIME WERE OUR LIVES IN DANGER SO MY VIRGINITY REMAINED INTACT AS BUDDHA HAD PLANNED.
IN FACT, WE WERE ASKED TO BRING THE YELLOW HARD HATS HOME!
