What better way for lovers of pearls and exquisite jewellery to begin the New Year than with a new set of exclusive pearl jewellery crafted by master jeweller Amee Philips?

The annual Amee Philips Pearl Exhibition returned this year showcasing the finest pearl jewellery together with thousands of loose pearls available for purchase at wholesale prices.

Having had a successful run in Penang the event was expanded to include Kuala Lumpur this year. Held over 4 days at the Amee Philips showroom at Kelawei Road, George Town, and the luxurious Presidential Suite of Mandarin Oriental, Kuala Lumpur, the exhibitions were a resoundindg success.

Many clients in the Klang Valley, for the first time, had the pleasure of selecting from thousands of loose pearls and strings of pearls of various types ranging from Japanese Akoya White Pearls, Golden, Black Tahitian to Australian White South Sea, all specially curated from reputable pearl farms around the world.

Pearls from different regions differ in shape, size and colour. The main pearl producing countries today are Japan, China, Burma, the Philippines, Australia and the islands around Tahiti

Pearl jewellery rose to prominence in the early 16th century, and were popularized by Queen Elizabeth I, who had them sewn unto her dresses.

Before the creation of cultured pearls in the early 1900's, pearls were rare and accessible only to the rich and famous. Today, pearls are a popular accessory for women everywhere, be they members of royalty, celebrities, wives of Heads of State or working women.
“After the success of our Pearl Exhibition last year, we realized there is a growing demand for pearl jewellery in Malaysia,” said Amee Philips, the Penang-born founder of Amee Philips Exclusive Jewellery.

“By bringing back the exhibition, we hope to offer our customers a wider selection of quality pearls at wholesale prices, while making the experience more gratifying by giving talks on the finer points of choosing and buying pearls, and by offering design consultation services to help you create the pearl jewellery of your dreams,” added Amee.

As Amee points out, pearls have a distinctive appeal that has stood the test of time. “The natural lustre and sheen of pearls have made them a very popular choice for centuries. Well crafted pearl necklaces and chokers are classy, elegant and pair up well with virtually any outfit,” she explained.

Amee Philips Exclusive Jewellery was founded in 1999 when founder Amee Philips, a Penang-born gemstone wholesaler and jewellery designer, opened her first jewellery retail outlet at Jalan Kelawei, Penang

The company has since grown to become one of the most internationally-recognized jewellery houses from Malaysia, famed for its exquisite creations in particular those created using coloured gemstones.

Among the significant achievements made by the company are the creation of the patented V-clip, an innovative feature allowing wearers to combine separate pieces of jewellery to create personalized designs and winner of the Malaysian Good Design Award in 2006; creating jewellery for four Zang Toi runway shows at the prestigious New York Fashion Week; and an invitation to be featured in the distinguished 150 Years Rolls Royce Yearbook in 2012.
