The finalists for Miss Malaysia World 2015
have been selected and are all geared up to win the chance to become the next Malaysian
beauty queen. 19 girls have been chosen to take part in this glamorous and
prestigious pageant in Malaysia.
“As always, I am very excited with this
year’s finalists. They are all smart and beautiful girls, and it’s always a
pleasure to watch them blossom into charming and elegant young ladies through
their participation in this pageant,” said Dato’ Anna Lim, the official pageant
licensee and organiser of Miss Malaysia World 2015.
In April and May 2015, interview sessions
were conducted at Corus Hotel Kuala Lumpur to determine the finalists for this
year’s pageant. They were selected based on a number of strict criteria,
including their self-confidence and presence, their personalities, as well as
their ability to represent the pageant theme, “Beauty with a Purpose.”
Dato’
Anna Lim, who was previously Miss Malaysia Universe 1990 and Mrs Malaysia World
2004/2005, was personally involved in the selection of the finalists, lending
her experience and knowledge on what it takes to be a successful beauty queen.
Pageant week will be starting on 22 August,
when the finalists will check in to Corus Hotel. They will then go through a
training programme, during which they will learn many different skills, such
personal grooming, runway, styling and personal enrichment.
A team of carefully
selected professionals will be guiding the contestants during this training
period to prepare them for the Grand Finals night.
Unlike previous years, there will only be
one Awards Night, which is the Grand Finals Night on 29 August 2015. A panel of
distinguished judges consisting of notable personalities in Malaysia has been
put together to determine the most worthy of the finalists.
There will be 11
subsidiary titles awarded: Miss Photogenic, Miss Personality Corus
Hotels, Miss Social Media Queen, Miss Talent, Miss Metrojaya, Miss Elegance,
Miss Beautiful Hair, Miss Wacoal, Miss Fitness, Miss Natural Beauty and Miss
Popular.
On this same night, there will be a swimsuit
competition and an elegant evening gown round to bring the finalists down to
the final five. After a final Q&A session, the winner of Miss Malaysia
World 2015 will be crowned.
This night will also be very special, as we
have the honour of having Yang Berusaha Mr Wee Choo Keong, Chairman Tourism
Malaysia, who has graciously accepted our invitation to attend the Grand Finals
Night. Dato Anna Lin will also be presenting Miss Malaysia World 2014, Dewi Liana, who
will be singing the song that won her Miss Talent 2014 at the Miss World
pageant in London last year.
The young lady who wins the title this year
will also win cash and prizes worth up to RM50,000. More importantly, she will
get the once-in-a-lifetime chance to represent Malaysia on the international
stage in the Miss World 2015 pageant, to be held in Sanya, Hainan Island in
China.
There, she will find herself among beauty queens from all over the
world, where they will compete to bring home the coveted title and crown.
“Miss World 2015 has very high standards,
and I am committed to uphold those standards,” said Dato’ Anna Lim. “Winning
the title of Miss Malaysia World 2015 will not be an easy task for any of the
finalists, as everyone is a worthy opponent in their own right.
"They will each
need to convince our panel of respected judges why they deserve the crown, and
how they are able to embrace what the pageant really stands for – Beauty with a
Purpose.”
