SERGIO ROSSI LAUNCH THE WORLD’S FIRST  
GREEN CARPET COLLECTION OF LUXURY ACCESSORIES  





Sergio Rossi, the Italian shoe company steeped in artisanal tradition, has collaborated with Eco-Age, the brand consultancy specialising in sustainability, to launch the first Green Carpet Collection of Luxury Accessories.   

The butterfly-inspired collection of stunning evening shoes and matching pochette are lovingly crafted from organic silk – spun, dyed and woven in established family run factories in the Italian territory.   

Recognising the importance of sustainability, Sergio Rossi and its suppliers collaborated closely to develop this truly sustainable silk fabric; the first-ever silk to be awarded the Green Carpet Challenge (GCC) Brandmark - a guarantor of sustainable excellence. 
  
The Green Carpet Collection will be on sale exclusively at www.sergiorossi.com from September 3rd and in a selection of Sergio Rossi boutiques from September 4th.    

Sergio Rossi is synonymous with quality materials, luxury, Italian craftsmanship, elegance and research. 

It is these elements that have been implemented into this incredible new project revealing a perfect marriage of ethics and aesthetics.

SUSTAINABILITY ELEMENTS   Organic silk yarn spun, dyed and woven in Italy in facilities visited and GCC- validated by Eco-Age: Attilio Imperiali, Artefil and Ongetta.   Lead-free Swarovski Advanced crystals adorn the shoe and clutch   Chrome-free leather sourced fom Europe used througout the collection   Wooden frame used in the pochette is FSC certified; galvanic is nickel-free and brass accessories are lead-free   Kering has committed to offsetting all carbon emissions resulting from this project

Livia Firth, (Creative Director, Eco-Age), Angelo Ruggeri, (Collections Design Director, Sergio Rossi) and Nadja Swarovski, (Member of the Swarovski Executive Board) hosted an intimate cocktail reception at Wellington Arch to celebrate an exclusive partnership and to launch the first Green Carpet Collection of luxury accessories, between Italian luxury shoe brand Sergio Rossi and Eco-Age, the brand consultancy which specialises in sustainability.  

Guests including Francois-Henri Pinault, Colin Firth, Caroline Rush, Tania Fares, and Leah Weller were among those admiring the limited edition butterfly-inspired shoes and pochettes, created through the unique collaboration between Eco-Age and Sergio Rossi.       
  

The Sergio Rossi Green Carpet Collection has been lovingly hand-crafted in Sergio Rossi’s Italian factories, using the first sustainable silk fabric to be developed and awarded the prestigious GCC Brandmark - a guarantor of sustainable excellence. 

Eco-Age validated the complete silk supply chain (which features organic silk yarn spun, dyed and woven in Italy) and approved the design featuring other principal sustainable components, such as lead-free Swarovski Advanced crystals, chrome- free European sourced leather and lead-free brass accessories.   

In a world first for a shoe and accessories collection the Kering Group offset the carbon emissions resulting from the whole project, including the launch event.  

Every possible aspect of the launch event was considered to reduce negative environmental impacts and ensure that Eco-Age and Sergio Rossi delivered a fully certified sustainable event. 

Guests walked the ECONYL® Green Carpet, which is made using recycled fishing nets. Working with the film set recycling company Drèsd, all the furniture, décor and props used at the event had either been reclaimed, recycled or upcycled from local UK based film, theater and TV sets; and will continue to be used again in future projects.
