CAMERON HIGHLANDS RESORT Trails, Tales and Traditions
Cameron Highlands Resort is located in the state of Pahang, approximately 200km north of Kuala Lumpur on the east side of the border between the states of Perak and Pahang in peninsular Malaysia.
At 1,467 metres above sea level, Cameron Highlands is the highest area on the mainland and enjoys a cool climate which ranges between 18 to 25° Celsius.
Discovered by British surveyor William Cameron on a mapping expedition in 1885, the fame of Cameron Highlands grew during the colonial era. British expatriates would frequent the highlands to relax and escape the lowland tropical heat, and British planters soon realised the potential of its fertile mountain slopes for growing tea, then a prized commodity.
Cameron Highlands is still home to many tea plantations, as well as strawberry and vegetable farms, jungle trails, cascading waterfalls and rose gardens. Much of the highlands’ character remains unchanged, exuding an old English charm.
With the tagline Trails, Tales and Traditions, the boutique 56-room Cameron Highlands Resort is set on a lush hillock fronting the golf course stretching along a plateau high above the river valley. Through its elegant décor and gentle traditions, the property embodies the charm, adventure and gentility of the old world.
The rich fusion of traditional English manners and discreet Asian hospitality are evident in the resort’s hospitality, while additional distinctive attributes include three restaurants and a unique Spa Village with signature treatments extolling traditional tea rituals and healing cultures of the region’s orang asli.
The hotel’s interior resembles a genteel English colonial home, with welcoming fireplaces in the Reading Room and Highlands Bar.
The rooms and suites boast panoramic, unobstructed views of Cameron Highlands’ undulating hills, and standard features include king-sized four poster beds, flat screen TVs with satellite channels, seating areas with comfortable settees and armchairs, and luxurious bathrooms.
To satiate the palate, the Dining Room serves classic colonial dinners such as Beef Wellington and Apple and Butterscotch Crumble, prepared using the highlands’ freshest ingredients and local herbs and spices.
Alternatively, Gonbei, the resort’s al fresco steamboat restaurant, stands out with a selection of hotpot broths ranging from Malay to Thai and Japanese; ideal for warming up in the chilly climate of Cameron Highlands.
For after dinner tipples, the Highland’s Bar offers a convivial space at which to savour single malt scotch while playing a round at the billiards table.
The time-honoured tradition of English afternoon tea may be enjoyed at the Jim Thompson Tea Room, where the elegant setting is conducive to the leisurely savouring of finger sandwiches, light-as-air pastries and home-baked scones with clotted cream and local strawberry jam.
Complementing this delicious spread is a wide selection of exquisite teas of Cameron Highlands. Guests may also partake in Signature Experiences such as the picnic in the tea plantations, and the exciting Murder Mystery in the Misty Mountains.
Cameron Highlands Resort also features the wellness centre of the award-winning Spa Village brand, where a wide range of sophisticated treatments and healing therapies are inspired by the restorative properties of tea as well as the healing beliefs of the local indigenous people.
Each guest luxuriates in a signature tea bath before every treatment, providing the prefect relaxing precursor to the experiences, which are conducted in tranquil indoor and outdoor treatment rooms.
A fully equipped gymnasium is also available at Spa Village Cameron Highlands.
The resort's Grand Ballroom provides for intimate and exclusive social and corporate gatherings in an elegant setting for up to 300 persons.
Complementing this is a range of seven other function rooms. Professional banqueting and meeting planners work with organisers to assure successful events such as weddings, corporate breakaways and reunions.
With its magical hilltop location and cool refreshing climate, the boutique Cameron Highlands Resort is the picture-perfect setting for the sophisticated traveller looking to escape humdrum routine and experience a sense of intimate country-style living with attentive yet unobtrusive service.

This place doesn’t have any 'i'm too cool and busy for you' wait staff. As per me, everyone at seattle venues is nice, friendly, and helpful and they really seem to like their jobs there and that is important to me. We had an awesome experience here.
