KL Alta Moda Sdn Bhd is pleased to present Kuala Lumpur Alta
Moda 2016, a 3-day fashion event that includes runway shows, installations and
exhibitions of bespoke and high-end pret-a-porter collections by renowned
international and local designers.
Kuala Lumpur Alta Moda aims to provide the local fashion
industry with a serious and professional platform to showcase fashion, while
still retaining some form of the social networking aspect of this type of
event.
True to the meaning of the word Alta Moda, which means ‘High
Fashion’ in Italian, this event
will feature custom-made collections by established fashion
designers/couturiers in line with ‘Couture’
style and high end ‘Pret-a-Porter’
collections.
Most of the collections shown will mainly be available on a
made-to-order basis and may be ordered by clients immediately after the show,
during after-show cocktails or by appointment if the designer and customer
prefer. Kuala Lumpur Alta Moda hopes to attract high net-worth individuals – the
crème-de-la-crème of society.
At the same time, Kuala
Lumpur Alta Moda does not rule out the possibilities of trade for participating
designers/couturiers. As designers will be involved in identifying their own
guests and audience, their ‘high fashion’
collections may well attract the interests of local retailers who are invited to
further develop the lines into prêt-a-porter (ready-to-wear) collections.
For Kuala Lumpur Alta
Moda, each designer/couturier will be given his or her own individual slot
during the 3-day event. And, in keeping with the tradition of the international
fashion industry, each designer will be completely involved with directing
their own production particularly in the areas of model casting, choreography,
light and sound.
This in turn will also benefit our local models and appointed
service providers as they will have the opportunity to learn and work with
international designers who usually demand a high standard of service and
commitment.
Kuala
Lumpur Alta Moda, which used to be parked under KL Fashion Weekend has also
pioneered the initiative to promote Malaysian capabilities in terms of fabric
production and garment making.
In
2013, Kuala Lumpur Alta Moda established links with the British High Commision,
which resulted in collaborationand partnership with Zandra Rhodes of the UK,
who was recently been commissioned by Valentino to produce a print.
This year,
KL Alta Moda established new links with Austrade which has resulted in a
collaboration with Fashion Advocate of Australia. At the end of the year, Kuala
Lumpur Alta Moda will also begin negotiations with Anna Sui, another big name
in fashion, to further promote our local fabric production capabilities to the
international fashion world.
The collaboration with
Zandra Rhodes has landed production opportunities at the London Fashion Week
for KL Alta Moda’s producer, Dodi Mohammad who was entrusted to produce Zandra
Rhodes SS16 (in September 2015) and Zandra Rhodes AW16 (in February 2016)
London Fashion Week presentations.
This
year, Kuala Lumpur Alta Moda will be presented in conjunction with 'A
Journey Through Time', organised at The Starhill Gallery by the YTL group.
Kuala Lumpur Alta Moda, which is supported by The Australian High Commission
and The British High Commission, will feature designers Dame Zandra Rhodes DBE
of the UK, Sandra Rives and Peter Farmer of Australia, Yamin of Indonesia and
Lord's Tailor of Malaysia.
Suhara Jewel Art and MASA Horlogerie are among the
participating brands of accessories.
Apart from fashion,
Kuala Lumpur Alta Moda also advocates individuals of style in music, appointing
Professor Dato’ Dr Ng Kah Ming as its Ambassador.
