BT Homestead is not in the same league as YTL or SP Setia or Mah Sing but is a small boutique developer specialising in trendy, quality and stylish condos at value for money prices.

Named in honor of Boon Tong the founder and now president emeritus of BT Homestead, the family owned company is now into the second generation with over 40 years of experience and half a billion ringgit portfolio.

"BT Homestead is controlled by my sister and myself as my parents are too busy enjoying their golden years," grins G.B Tan. While the BT stands for his father's initials, the flying mare is in honour of his mother born in Year of the Horse. 

"Both my parents built this company which started as Chop Seng Lee in the 1970s and changed to BT Homestead on 1 April 1991.

"So far we developed Angku Puri, Almas Puri and Anggun Puri in 2008 but for 28 Dutamas we decided to abandon the 'A' and name it after its address and location which can't be beat!"

Due to its attractive price, 28 Dutamas is 80% sold so stop being a drag queen as dragging your feet any longer will do no good.

Entry level is a mere RM 688,000 for a 1,253 sq ft home, quite unheard of as my friend James bought a measly flat the size of a large cupboard for RM 650,000! So for an extra RM 38,000 he could buy a condo nearly doubled his unit.

The 1,855 sq ft penthouse is selling for RM 1.4 million. 

Those who prefer a landed property can buy the 2,608 sq ft townhouse at ground level for RM 2.5 million. There are only 2 such units and I rushed to buy one but alas, the bigger one I wanted is sold! Curses! 

The remaining one has a garden which I feel is a wee bit too small for my pool, waterfall, koi pond and pergola so it is still for sale. This Family Unit has a dual entrance so your inlaws or parents can enjoy their privacy without intruding into your wild lovemaking with their daughter in the livingroom. Later on your kids can stay there and come in and out without disturbing you.

SECURING A FUTURE FOR YOUR FAMILY

The planned co-educational internationally accredited private school is expected to be completed by end 2018 barring any unforseen circumstances, catering to a maximum enrollment of around 1,000 students. It is estimated to be in the range of RM50 million in total investment by BTHomestead upon completion.

Class sizes will be around 22 to 23 where the university preparatory curriculum will be based on the internationally recognised Cambridge/ IGCSE programme with IB teaching methods from Grades Preschool to Grade 11. Students will master English and a second language, placing a strong emphasis on the arts and music, world cultures, with a focus on Malaysian multi-cultural society and languages, global awareness, competitive athletics and healthy living, cutting edge technology and the promotion of values through community service.

The School will be located at Jalan Dutamas Raya in a neighbourhood populated by medium to medium-high priced condominiums. It is about 9km by road to Kuala Lumpur City Centre, Petaling Jaya City Centre, Kepong Town Centre and 2km to Mont Kiara neighbourhood. The School is accessible via Jalan Duta, Jalan Bukit Kiara, Jalan Segambut and Sri Hartamas. The SPRINT Highway, North Klang Valley Elevated Highway (NKVE) and Damansara-Ulu Klang Elevated Highway (DUKE) are all within minutes from the school, making travelling back and forth a breeze.

So far, close to 80% of the units have been sold since its completion with selling prices ranging from as low as RM688,000 during its launch. Current prices for 28 Dutamas are as low as RM600 per square foot. Capital appreciation for this project is around 10 to 25 per cent in the next five years while the rental yield for the units is four to five per cent per annum.
