The magic of Montreux Noël returns from 23 November to 24 December with a host of surprise events. For the 23rd year running, more than 160 exhibitors will present a smorgasbord of food specialities and handmade goods amid a festive and fun setting. This year, the chalets usually situated on the Grand'Rue have been moved to the quays of Montreux, extending as far as the Montreux Congress & Music Centre (2m2c), making the stunning lake setting appear even more spellbinding. 2017 highlights: a light show will take place each evening (4 times per hour) in front of the Fairmont Le Montreux Palace while the number of exhibitors will double from 6 to 10 December thanks to the "Christmas Crafts & The little Second-Hand" market being held in the 2m2c. Santa's hut is still perched at the top of Rochers-de-Naye, while the markets are Portuguese-themed this year - the country having been selected as 2017's guest of honour. Savour some delicious "bacalhau" with a glass of mulled wine and other specialities typical of the region. From 30 November until 4 December, the world-famous festival which takes place in the Stravinski Auditorium will play host to a daring and original line-up (including one English-speaking performance) featuring the hottest comedians around. New additions this year are the Friday night "Montreux Web Gala" dedicated to a series of comedy stars who have garnered a huge online following and a Saturday night double comedy bill. Speaking of all things digital-related, the "Montreux Web Studio", created in 2016, is back in the 2m2c hall again this year, and offers free access to the best of what is currently happening in the digital world. Cry tears of laughter... at the one and only Montreux Comedy Festival. See the full programme Christmas at Chaplin's World: Eternal Charlie! Forty years ago on Christmas morning, Charlie Chaplin passed away at the Manoir de Ban in Corsier-sur-Vevey. To commemorate his passing, Chaplin's World is organising a series of stunning events during the Christmas period: an illuminated path (23 November 2017 until 7 January 2018 from 5 pm to 6 pm) will transform Manoir de Ban Park into a magical destination while rides in the Chaplin hot air balloon (23 December 2017 until 7 January 2018) will allow visitors to get a bird's eye view of the famous building and imagine what Charlie's life was like. On 7 December, all eyes will be on the Jungfrau summit as an ice statue of the actor created by John Doubleday is unveiled. To top it all off, Chaplin's World will open exceptionally on 25 December between 2 pm and 6 pm, with a special Christmas entry price of CHF 10. This year, Vevey has generously expanded its new "Christmas Quays" project to include Montreux Riviera. Held from 24 November to 31 December on the Quai Perdonnet, this unique unmissable event boasts a line-up featuring an 80 m2 nativity crib complete with animals, a magical forest dotted with small huts, as well as a variety of stands offering delicious specialities from Vevey traders. But that's not all: the longest light tunnel in Europe (50 m), sees the quays lit up with 28,750 stars!
