To celebrate the Lunar New Year 2018, the Malaysia Retail Chain Association (MRCA) hosted their Chinese New Year Banquet on 27 February 2018 in the magnificent Wisma Huazong.
The banquet was graced by Guest of Honour YB Datuk Seri Ir Dr Wee Ka Siong, Minister in Prime Minister Department. Over 1,300 members and guests from the crème de la crème of the retail-chains industry were invited to come together to welcome the year of the “Earth Dog”.
Themed ‘The Year of Gold’, the Chinese New Year Banquet 2018 had an engaging programme which included drum opening performance, wushu, and song and dance performances. Datuk Seri Dr KK Chai, Organizing Chairman and Vice President of MRCA, equated the banquet to the open house tradition hosted by Malaysians, which unites and strengthens the bond of friendship among people from all walks of life.

The MRCA is an association for leading retail-chains store operators and franchisors in Malaysia. It was established in 1992 to assist its members in their store expansion and to promote growth in the retail-chain and franchise industry.
It is recognised by many as one of the most active retail associations in Malaysia, playing an important role in promoting Malaysian franchise brand name abroad and at the same time actively support the government’s policies in promoting Malaysia as one of the top shopping destinations in the world.
The highlights of the banquet were the engaging performances. The members and guests were treated to a special dance performance by MRCA Council Members and, back by popular demand, the President Councils will be presenting a number of songs.
The Past Presidents and Organizing Chairman put their singing skills to the test to raise funds. The performances definitely livened up the night. Besides these, entertainment such as drum and wushu kept everyone enthralled.
