CSR Excellence Awards 2018

The second World Top Gourmet Awards 2018 is again organised by the World Gourmet Chapter of the International Business Federation, following the mega success of its inaugural edition in 2017.

According to Peggy Chong, President of the Malaysian Chapter of the International Business Federation (IBF) – World Gourmet which is the organiser of the award, “This year’s participation has been overwhelming as industry players, including restaurants and hotels have come forward to showcase their high standards of excellence.”

The World Top Gourmet Awards was established to stimulate the nation’s economy through a multi-pronged strategy. By connecting B2B and B2C customers across an integrated platform, the awards help to fuel the growth of the food and beverage sector. There are innumerable opportunities for cross-learning, business networking, business matching, industry talks, exhibitions, workshops, events, educational tours and other activities to benefit both businesses and customers. 

Not just any culinary award, there is a distinctive difference as other than honouring restaurants for their superior cuisine, service and dining experiences – unique neighbourhood eateries or niche business models will also be recognised.

The event is an extension of the International Business Federation which was founded by Professor Dr Frederick Yap to promote and develop trade opportunities for the food and beverage, retail, travel and franchise industries in ASEAN countries.

As part of the stringent award valuation and validation criteria, judges comprising top food connoisseurs will determine the results based on food quality, service and dining experience, public reviews, ambience, menu selection, value and price structure. Outstanding establishments will be awarded.

To further verify the awards’ authenticity and credibility, world-renowned Celebrity Master Chef Jeffrey Tan (OAM) from Australia – who is also the Founder of Cooking for Charity has been appointed the official Ambassador this year. Patron of the awards is Puan Sri Datin Seri (Dr.) Susan Cheah, Sunway Group EXCO member, who is renowned for her passion for good food.

Some of 2017’s award winners and 2018’s nominees were also invited to join the Macao Gastronomy Exchange Tour in July 2018 as part of the award’s collaboration with Travel Guide and Macao Tourism Board to share and exchange ideas on the food and beverage industry. In November 2018, there will be another joint event with the Beyond Lifestyle International Expo (BLIE).

In conjunction with the awards, there is also an initiative to care for the underprivileged. Through the One Caring Heart, funds will be raised for the needy while also providing recognition to outstanding philanthropists for their selfless contribution and support given to One Caring Heart.  

The recognition ceremony for the World Top Gourmet Awards 2018 and charity initiative has been slated for 29th November 2018. Look out for the grand awardees and winners to celebrate their incredible feats.
