ZHAN ART GALLERY OPENS FOR
BUSINESS ON 23 MARCH 2019

ZHAN, the newest art
space in Petaling Jaya hosted a launch party that showcases contemporary
artworks from two Malaysian artists - Kelvin Low and Bono Stellar.
Located in
The School, Jaya One, the gallery spans over 2,000 square feet with 120 feet of
wall space, displaying artworks as big as 6 x 6 feet.
“After many months of
preparation, ZHAN is excited to open its doors and present to the world a
different meaning towards appreciating artworks through various artists,
locally and abroad. With ZHAN, we hope that customers will be inspired to not
only collect the artworks but generate a deeper meaningful connection with it,”
said Desmond Tong, founder and curator of ZHAN.

Also present at the launch
party was Kelvin Low, resident artist of ZHAN. He echoed Desmond’s enthusiasm
about being part of the art space and stated that not all artworks require a
mortal being or an object. Artworks come in many shapes and forms, the
importance of it is to increase the perspective of the viewers and how it
resonates and connects with the audience.
In conjunction with the
art space launch party, ZHAN also partnered with various key brands where
customers were introduced to Finnish design brand Iittala showcasing the Ruutu
range, Birds by Toikka range as well as the Alvar Aalto range.
Homegrown
artisan chocolate Harriston Chocolatier as well as premium Scottish gin
Hendrick’s Gin were also presented to allow guests to not only reflect and
enjoy the artwork but also to heighten their taste and smell senses as well.

The Malaysian-born Kelvin
graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Art from the University of Auckland, New
Zealand. He has previously exhibited in PAKS Gallery, Hubertendorf Castle,
Austria (2018-2019), the Art Salon Carrousel du Louvre, Paris, France
(2017-2018), and the Grand-Palace of Brussels, Belgium (2017-2018), among
others.
