Stage Play《Meant to Be》 Directed by Taiwanese-American Film Producer, starring Dr Jessie Chung as the main actress - who helped raise funds for cancer patients through her participation in this drama.
Symphony Theatre has launched their very first stage play《Meant to Be》for all of us, following the “lifted ban ” for cinemas and theatres after the strict Movement Control Order (MCO).
There was no shortage of seats on the day of the debut. All theatre crew members had given their full cooperation and followed through the epidemic prevention standards thoroughly.
All audiences wear masks throughout, and the seats maintain a one meter social distance at all times. Audiences were so immersed with emotions as the plot reached its climax.
But the ending of the storyline ultimately took an interesting twist, which was something pretty much unanticipated by many. As the curtains were closing, warm applause can be heard coming from the audience floor.
The applause was even more thunderous during the take-a bow session upon adjourning.
Overall, the audience floor was filled with so much warmth and sincere appreciation towards all crew members involved in casting of the show.
《Meant to be》 is a contemporary romantic love piece, adapted from a classic love novel. Symphony Theatre specially invited Director Paul Lee from the United States to direct the film, where Dr Jessie Chung has volunteered to star as the leading actress, acting as the first heroine to participate in this charity show to support cancer patients through the "Dr Jessie’s Cancer Fund" as it is a fundraising campaign that helps raise funds for cancer patients.
Director Paul Lee, who is of dual nationality, grew up in the United States and Taiwan since his childhood, majoring in drama and music performance at an American university, he is an actor.with character Director Lee has been taught to film and direct by a famous teacher in the United States, and he himself too has also directed many stage plays, short films and advertisements.
In addition to just directing the recent stage play 《Meant to Be》, Director Lee will also be involved in directing and starring as the main male acting role, while being personally involved in singing the theme song of the stage play as well.
In order to provide the audience with the best visual and auditory enjoyment, Director Lee uses high-quality audio equipment coupled with high-definition LED backgrounds, while also providing Chinese and English subtitles present to everyone in the form of movie stage play.
The actors/actresses who casted the stage play《Meant to Be》 include International artist Dr. Jessie Chung and Director Paul Lee, as well as the actors/actresses from 《Music Box》 and 《Dream of Red Mansions》Jeffrey Beh, and Natalie Chan who casted in the “Music Box" performance, Caleb Cheah, Sophia Koa, Lily Lim, Timothy Chuah, etc., there are a total of 16 actors/actresses performed on the same stage.
As for the stage play "Dream of Red Mansions", though we managed to find the best candidate to cast as Jia Baoyu during the end of last year, the rehearsal progress was delayed due to the unprecedented epidemic situation, and also because the actor, “Brother Bao” has injured his ankle during sports, and thus needed time to recuperate.
Hence, the "Dream of Red Mansions" drama performance had to be postponed. However, our Director speculated that the public performances will most probably be available by the end of this year.
《Meant to Be》was initially scheduled to be performed at the Shah Alam, Symphony Theatre on the 3rd July 2020 with 4 different time slots. Due to the favourable response from enthusiastic fans as soon as the news were released, all tickets for the 4 time slots quickly got sold out.
As of now, Symphony Theatre has increased the number of show slots to 8 slots. Through this performance, all earned profits will be donated to “Dr.Jessie’s Cancer Fund” as means to support cancer patients.
