THE YOUNG, HIP AND HAPPENING CROWD WAS INVITED TO DATO BERNARD CHANDRAN'S AFTER PARTY AT HIS NEW STREETGEAR BOUTIQUE CALLED AREA 27 AT FAHRENHEIT 88 ON THE SIDE ROAD FACING STARHILL GALLERY.

I WENT THERE LATE AS I WAS PARTYING AT ZEBRA SQUARE AND DOWNING KRONENBOURG 1664 BY THE LITRES SINCE IT WAS FREE. NICELY SLOSHED, I TAXIED TO AREA 27 WHERE THE PARTY WAS IN FULL SWING JUST BEFORE MIDNIGHT.

Area 27 is the new brainchild (he has 5 real children de) of Dato Bernard Chandran and is stocked with limited edition Adidas, Nikes and the likes. Everything is super cool and sizzling hot if you know what I mean. The shoes are really out of this world and the clothes are also uber-trendy but still affordable if you consider RM 800 to RM 1,000 affordable.

There are no couture gowns here as you will have to go to his flagship store inside Fahrenheit 88 on the first floor.

There are 20 creations hanging and dangling in Area 27 designed by 20 local designers or those in the trade. I like Monica Lee's t-shirt with her real hair the most! There was a fridge where we could help ourselves to soft drinks while alcoholic drinks were on the table.

I saw a lavatory bowl next to the changing room but it was openair so the whole world could see me pee and my tricky dicky but since Area 27 is so cutting edge, I thought this was the new trend. So I unzipped and was about to pull out my lan chiau when the guard stopped me! He said this loo was for washing hands only and mind you, one has to bend to wash hands!
L1070551.JPG
Dato Bernard Chandran sitting pretty on his potty! This loo, taken from his toilet really works as water pours from the tap and works as a wash basin though you have to bend low to use it.

So i strode inside the doorway only to be told this was a changing room and not the loo. I had to climb 3 flights of steps in my high heels to pee and wee!

The next time you are in Area 27, pull up the flap of cloth covering the window mannequin as underneath is the drawing of 2 penises! One cock on the left thigh and one cock on the right! I love it!

L1070551.JPG
This mannequin in the window looks innocent enough and the towel with 27 on it signifies Area 27
L1070551.JPG
Lift up the flap and you see two big cocks! Exact same size as mine! How did Dato Bernard Chandran know that?

You can hardly see the shoes on the ladder rungs due to the decorations but they sure are there! Dato Bernard Chandran even accused me of stealing his birds when he saw I had several tiny birds amid my feathers but his birds are life-sized owls! Fancy accusing me of theft!

MIFA WITH DATO BERNARD CHANDRAN ON WEDNESDAY 23 NOVEMBER 2011

KEE@FSWMAG.COM

THE KING OF MALAYSIAN HAUTE COUTURE, DATO BERNARD CHANDRAN, SHOWCASED HIS SPRING/SUMMER 2011 COLLECTION TO GREAT ACCLAIM WITH MANY VOWING THIS WAS ONE OF HIS BEST SHOWS EVER.

HE FLEW IN HIS COLLECTION FROM LONDON TO THE ANNOYANCE OF HIS AGENT JUST FOR THE MALAYSIAN INTERNATIONAL FASHION WEEK (MIFW) SHOW AND HIS EFFORT WAS WELL WORTH IT.

SOME EXPECTED HIS GLAM-SLAM BLING FLAUNTING SEQUINS, BEADS AND EMBROIDERY WORTHY OF AN EMPRESS OR A GLAMAZON BUT THIS TIME IT WAS ALL ABOUT THE CUT, DRAPE AND HANG.

THERE WAS A FAINT RETRO FEEL TO HIS COLLECTION AS IF A WIND FROM THE FIFTIES AND SIXTIES HAD WAFTED INTO HIS STUDIO. AND I WAS RIGHT.

"I was helping my mother moved house some months ago and I came across boxes and cartons of her old clothes and accessories. They were made for her during her heyday as a teenager and young adult in the sixties," recalls Dato Bernard Chandran. "I was astonished by the style and drape which was body-defining as in those days there were no proper boutiques and women just went to their neighbourhood seamstress to make their clothes."

Aroused by his mum's wardrobe of yesteryear, Dato Bernard Chandran set about crafting his own version of the Swinging Sixties but with a modern touch and couture details, seen not in souped-up glitter and fluff but in impeccable cuts and luxe fabrics.

The grand hall at Zebra Square was packed to capacity and there was near mayhem as guests struggled to evict other guests who they claimed were sitting on their precious seats. Names were meaningless as those who sat on the wrong seats simply tore them out and stuffed them inside their handbags or trousers to avoid detection. Throwing them on the floor was foolish as the real guests could pick them up triumphantly.

The melee really amused and reminded me of Paris, London and New York Fashion Weeks where the social hierarchy is dictated by where you sit. The most powerful media editors sit on the front rows with A-list celebs while the super rich wives of South American dictators and middle east despots and those who money come from dubious sources are safely placed at the back rows. Money can buy you RM 300,000 dresses but not front row seats!

I was lucky to be seated next to the Hostess with the Mostest, Datin Mary, beautiful wife of Dato Bernard Chandran who looks 30 but cannot be as she is the mother of 5 children. The eldest is Terimunite who is 17 so unless Datin Mary gave birth aged 13, she must be older than 30! She should launch her own beauty skincare as she is the best walking advertisement! I shall recommend her to SKII.

As usual, here are the social pictures, before and after the show and the fashion shots will be in the next blog.

Her cleavage is so astonishing, wide and deep I could not tear my eyes off her boobs! But why are they darker than the rest of her bosom? Shouldn't it be the other way around unless she was sun bathing with her breasts exposed and the rest of her body covered up? Must ask her bf Carl Graham at left!
