STATELY BUILDINGS, NEW STRUCTURES, DINNER AT SIMONIS AND UP/DOWN BRIDGE OF THE HAGUE

KEE@FSWMAG.COM
TODAY WAS A LEISURELY DAY AT THE HAGUE. MICHAEL MANTZ TOOK DANIEL AND GLORIA TO PLAY TENNIS WHILE PRINCESS BECKY LEOGARDO AND I LAZED AT HOME AS IT WAS TOO HOT TO DO ANYTHING.

Around 6 pm we went for a drive to Scheveningen for dinner at Simonis. The drive took us past some gorgeous, historic and stately buildings, palatial public buildings and grand townhouses before we reached Simonis at Scheveningen.

Simonis is the best seafood restaurant in Holland and possibly Europe or maybe the world. There are 3 Simonis restaurants in the beach area alone, catering to the upper elite, middle class and mass market.

We went to the highclass Simonis called 'Catch by Simonis' but it was fully reserved till 9 pm! Michael Mantz even used my name but alas the receptionist had never heard of my name and fame though she did say my jewels were fantastic.

So we had to go to middle class Simonis which started the fame and launched the fortune of its owner.

There I ordered my usual fish and chips which is the best and tastiest in observable universe!

In addition, the portions are huge and 1 plate can easily be for 2 persons! Then the price is considered reasonable even by lowclass Third World standards! Ir cost 12.50 euros which is around RM 50 for my fish and chips and also for most of the mains. The chicken rice at Mandarin Oriental and Shangrila costs  the same while at Majestic it costs RM 70!

 Great brains think alike!

 Buildings of The Hague

This Bird & Bird building is my favourite as it looks like 1 but is actually 2 separate buildings as you will see from the photos below

 So solid looking

As solid as the Dutch economy
 Solid as the dykes

Palatial villa in the town centre

I love these buildings as they look like candy houses and so ornate compared to the usual staid Dutch buildings
 Grand villa
In the heart of The Hague
 Boring but functional
I would love to live in the turret! This is my favourite townhouse
 New but nice

 Contemporary blocks
Princess Dr Becky Leogardo outside the 4 month old Catch by Simonis restaurant which was fully booked till 9 pm and we were there at 7 pm! So we had to go to the mass market Simonis by Sea

I hate seafood but some people love them

Catch by Simonis offers spectacular views of marina

What a view. No wonder the al fresco tables and even all the indoor tables were booked solid

Catch by Simonis is a corner lot and offers stunning panorama

 Modern block

The world famous Simonis restaurant at Scheveningen

Each main dish costs 12.50 euros to 19.98 euros

Michael Mantz and Princess Dr Becky Leogardo. That is my fish and chips---best in world!

Kee Hua Chee enjoying his fish and chips which was best in world

The urinal says 'Have Fun!". What kind of fun can you have while standing and peeing unless you are wanking and even so it's not much fun since people walk in and out nonstop and you can't ejaculate peacefully

See, only RM 50 or so for a main course enough for 2 persons!

The view is boring since it is in fish warehouse area

 Skyline of The Hague

 The famous Binck Twins
I was fascinated by this well disguised bridge that could be raised and lowered every hour on the hour for the barges to sail past! Just look at the various stages of the bridge as it is raised and lowered in photos below

 Maximum height
Now the bridge which is part of the road is slowly lowered

And we are on our way again!
