Granted, the venue at Putrajaya Marriott Hotel & Spa was not the easiest and most convenient location for KL-lites as it is located in the middle of nowhere and not even in Putrajaya! My taxi driver told me he once drove to Putrajaya and spent ages driving in circles seeking Marriot hotel which is apparently nearer to Kajang highway except Putrajaya sounds more glamorous and prestigious! I was stood up high and dry by the undependable and unreliable Adrian Winson who did not even bother to let me know if he could make it or not and refused to reply my frantic SMS!
However, the venue proved to be excellent and very well designed. Guests enjoyed a lavish buffet dinner and free flow of drinks in the lobby while the show inside the ballroom had theatre seating which was great as everyone had a great view like inside a cinema. I always hate it when I sit with my back facing the stage so I am forced to turn around to see what was happening on stage but now everyone had a good view.
The sponsors were Marriott Putrajaya, Martha Tilaar, Elianto, Furless, Runway Production, Ice Watch, Stage, Paparazzi and my favourite tipple---Kronenbourg 1664 which was the Main Presenter. MD Soren Ravn sportingly took to the stage to rap with Dennis Lau and Koujee during the event! No other high-powered Managing Director in Malaysia or anywhere in the world can do that! Bravo Soren!
The evening started with Asia New Star Model contest which had a Korean tinge as the 2 winners will fly to Seoul, Korea to participate in the 8th Asia Model Festival Awards in 2013, provided the world does not end on 21.12.12.
Past winners of these prestigious awards included Tini, Kelly Jagan, Deborah Henry, KS Tan and Wilson Tan, Malaysia's first and only male supermodel.
The winners this year are Eryna and Isaac Ong who deserved the titles though many said Thanuja Ananthan who has both height, killer looks and sparkling, witty personality should be the female winner but since I was not judging, I cannot be blamed. Female nominees were Cassandra Patrick, Shir Chong, Thanuja and Yuen apart from Eryna. Male nominees were Ahya U, Danny Lim, Hansen Lee abd Joseph Chow. Just as well handsome Hansen did not win as he did not turn up! Also Gabriella Robinson who won Most Popular Beauty Queen Model of the Year and never showed up!
