NILOU FOLCO THREW HER BIRTHDAY PARTY ON 18 OCTOBER 2013 AT LA SCALA, KL'S LATEST ITALIAN RESTAURANT A STONE'S THROW FROM KLCC. IT WAS IL LIDO PREVIOUSLY BEFORE NILOU AND HER HUSBAND LUCA DI FOLCO (THE FORMER ITALIAN AMBASSADOR) TOOK OVER AND RENAMED IT LA SCALA.
WE HAD COCKTAILS ON THE TERRACE AND BIRTHDAY CAKE CUTTING CEREMONY BEFORE A GRAND FORMAL DINNER DOWNSTAIRS. BY COINCIDENCE IT WAS ALSO THE BIRTHDAY OF DATIN SU DAY, WIFE OF DATO STEVE DAY AND WE ALL KNOW AND LOVE THIS COUPLE FOR ORGANISING MALAYSIA INTERNATIONAL GOURMET FESTIVAL FOR THE LAST 13 YEARS!
Below is the speech by Birthday Girl Nilou who by the way is American of exotic, aristocratic Persian stock but now an Italian through and through!
Dear
Tunku Naquiyuddin and Tunku Nurul Hayati, Tunku Dara Tunky Naquiah and TunkuMudzaffar, Tunku Tan Sri Tg Meriam Sultan Ahmad Shah and Dato Seri Ozeir , Excellencies, Tan Sris, Puan Sris and dearest friends.
It a pleasure to have all of you here tonight to celebrate this auspicious night.
Oct 18 and a new a concept , La SCALA !!!!
Marco Polo traveled thousand of miles around the world and do you know what he took back from China? THE PASTA! I am following his footsteps and bringing the real PASTA to KL.
I took over il lido a few weeks ago ,turned it around , brought chefs ,managers ,wine connoisseurs , pasta machines and all ingredients direct from Italy !!!!
As most of you might know il lido was the only fine italian restaurabt in kl and now its become better the finest !!!!
My goal is to bring the REAL Italian food hereto kl with fresh pastas made DAILY on the spot
Downstairs is fine dinning and upstairs I am creating a cool pleasant ,outdoor concept( al fresco ) so you can enjoy real Italian snacks all day and at night the music goes on .....
La SCALA is the place to have very exclusive events for the discriminating taste .
All events will be customized for You !! And suite your taste with an Italian touch to it
Please remember this is a private function and the doors are not open yet open to the public. The chef is in the kitchen for the first time , My olive trees are on the way in planter boxes and lots more on the way from Italy

THE CHEF : Lucio Russo , From Naples, he has worked in England with Gordon Ramsey , France ,Brussels and of course Italy at the famous Hustler hotel from which we managed to bring him here to bring his expertise to KL to please your palates
Mr Sante Losio is also Italian comes from a background of 17 generation vineyards and wine business. He grew up on their own vineyard and was fed wine instead of milk to grow and as you see the wine did well!!!! His bringing his expertise and the most amazing wines to please your lips . We are very happy to have him on board
Mr Oscar Clemente is another Italian , (what am I going to do with all these Italians )a restauranteur, a celebrity chef ,which has been working between Italy, New York and Miami and is here to take care of all of us. We are very lucky to have him here with us
And of coarse I need to thank Saurab , which many of you might know already , I wouldn't be able to do this with out you
Also everyone else who helped put this together specially. GPL. Which have been putting up with everything
MY PARENTS ..Thanks DAD for the name LA SCALA. and MOM that put up with all my headaches and complains
Of course Brando, my one and only , which I have neglected for the past two weeks
Babe I'm doing this for u and I'm glad you r already organizing your Xmas party I'm sure this year Santa can park his sleigh and reindeers on the TERAZA DE LA SCALA !!!
