I interviewed Ines de la Fressange when she launched her own label 'Ines de la Fressange' in Paris back in the 1990s when she even had a big boutique in Avenue Montaigne, the poshest and priciest shopping street in Paris. Sadly her store lasted only a few years but I adore her!

Last year, she relaunched her label again under the same name so I wish her all success. I think her mistake when she launched her own brand was not modelling herself. I remember asking her she did not model her own clothes and she said she did not want to give the impression her collection was meant only for models. I disagreed and told her since she was a French model and icon and designer, she should be the face of her label. Uniqlo obviously agrees as Ines de la Fressange is now modelling her own range!

UNIQLO Launches Special Collaboration with Ines de La Fressange

From France to the World

Petite Parisienne

Bleu, Blanc, Parisienne

Note Parisienne

Souffle de Parisienne

UNIQLO announces the launch of a special collection created in collaboration with French fashion icon Ines de La Fressange. The concept of UNIQLO LifeWear has always been to extend beyond fashion and to enrich lives. The 2014 Spring Summer lineup continues to pursue this mission, by partnering with French fashion icon Ines de La Fressange to offer a special collaborative line for women.

Rather than following trends, this collection offers clothing that Ines would wear. Specially designed to make women feel good and look beautiful, details such as the height of the waist line, opening of the neckline and the overall fit have been carefully refined through a long fitting process with Ines in order to create a perfectly balanced collection.

"The qualities important to me are beauty, originality, and elegance. The price doesnt matter at all. The most enjoyable thing for me is the ability to mix and match styles, and my favorite items cover a broad spectrum from inexpensive to pricey. The potential to freely mix and combine many different items is a source of constant pleasure", said by Ines.

Talking about his experience working with Ines, Naoki Takizawa, the Design Director of UNIQLO, said I think that Ines has an immeasurable influence on the fashion world. She is loved by designers everywhere, and her comments as a model and co-creator of clothing give rise to the true nature of apparel. Talking with Ines, images of the next generation of clothing come to me naturally. We have combined that with UNIQLOs LifeWear concept.”

The collection comprises four lines, Petite Parisienne; Bleu, Blanc, Parisienne; Note Parisienne; and Souffle de Parisenne, which includes items such as caps, stoles, blouses and pants. Take a sneak peek at the Ines de La Fressange collection here:

Exclusively at UNIQLO Fahrenheit88, the collection will be available in Malaysia from 28 March 2014. Selected lines will also be available at KLCC.

Luxurious clothes, and beyond from UNIQLO and Ines
Ines charm lies in her universal style which is entrenched in refined feminine beauty but with a touch of mischievous playfulness. Her concept is Parisian chic, based on authentic quality and individual values, unconstrained by price or brand. It is a mixture of genres, utilising a wide range of items from luxury to vintage, for a universal appeal.

About the four lines:

Petite Parisienne

Evoking the spirit of traditional French work clothes, the classic and time-honoured silhouette has been updated with playful details, such as rounded collars or floral motifs hidden under the sleeves. Available in late March.

Bleu, Blanc, Parisienne

The French blue, white, and red provides the inspiration for this line, with a Parisian twist on UNIQLO favorites such as polo shirts, Oxford shirts, chino pants, and jeans. Available in late March.

Note Parisienne

A refined style is expressed in this line of basics which includes draping dresses, beautifully sheer knitwear, and soft and delicate chiffon blouses. These items can also be worn casually for an authentic Parisian chic style. Available in May.

Souffle de Parisienne

With natural and refined colors, beautiful silhouettes that show off the line of the body without constricting movement, and quick-drying fabrics that wont cling, this line is perfect for practicing yoga, exercising, or just relaxing at home. Available in May.
