The Malaysia Fashion Week (MFW) returns
for its fourth edition from 18-22 October this year with the theme ‘Art Beyond

The ‘Art Beyond
Fashion’ theme pays homage to the intertwining of art and fashion where every
piece of fashion item begins with an artistic interpretation by its creator,
and similarly it ends with an artistic interpretation of its beauty and appeal
by fans and buyers.
MFW brings together lifestyle and fashion trade businesses, importers, exporters, designers, brands, consumers and fashionistas into one house for exhibition and trade fashion showcase.

MFW kicked off with a
fashion and lifestyle exhibition throughout several key locations in Publika
starting on 18 October and will remain open until 22 October 2017. The
exhibition is opened to both trade and public visitors featuring clusters of
Fashion, Modest Fashion, Menswear and Lifestyle, Beauty, Hair as well as
Aesthetics and Wellness.
Each of these clusters are carefully curated by some of the most experienced names in the Malaysian fashion and lifestyle industry such as Bon Zainal, Mahani Awang, Datin Maylene Yong, Datin Winnie Loo and Professor Dr. Coco Alex. The art installation for the fashion week is led by Professor Derek Tolcher, Linton University College.

Among the highlight of

shoemaker Datuk Prof. (Dr.) Jimmy Choo’s, OBE. This will be the first time in
Asia that this showcase is held, shortly after London following his appointment
as Ambassador for The Diana Award.
The gallery will showcase a replica collection of shoes he has designed for the late Princess of Wales over the course of their close friendship. The centrepiece of the tribute gallery will include the last pair of shoes he designed for Princess Diana shortly before her passing and was never collected.

Business In Fashion
Since 2014, MFW is the
only trade fashion platform in Malaysia that is focused on boosting the
Malaysian fashion and lifestyle industry.
Founded as a strategic public-private initiative to provide a marketing platform for local fashion brands to meet international buyers, MFW aspires to elevate Malaysia’s status as a major fashion hub in ASEAN and beyond. MFW also provides a great opportunity for Malaysian companies and designers to reach international markets and achieve greater business mileage.

MFW also provides a great opportunity for Malaysian companies and designers to reach international markets and achieve greater business mileage.
In keeping with MFW’s purpose
and foundation for trade and businesses, MFW2017’s trade partner and former
co-organiser, MATRADE, will carry out international business matchings. Buyers
from South Africa, Vietnam, Australia, and Indonesia are expected to throng the
exhibition and runway this year to meet and be matched with participating
Malaysian fashion designers, exhibitors and lifestyle curators.
MFW has also appointed Kelantan-born Datuk Zang Toi as Honorary
International Business Advisor who has recently opened his midtown Manhattan
studio,
an address many designers dream to have. Datuk Zang Toi has graciously agreed to mentor young
Malaysian designers and guide them on the importance of building a strong
international business network.
