The unbelievable Daytona skeleton by Label Noir
Ultimate customization, in the best sense of the word
With Label Noir, we have come full circle: the secret know-how of co-contracting becomes a signature of ultimate luxury.
IS THIS THE ULTIMATE REWORKED ROLEX?
EXQUISITE DETAILING!
And when a client wants his Rolex part number
116520 to metamorphose into a skeleton, the challenge becomes a textbook case.
In the global community of watch enthusiasts and collectors, there is a tribe apart.
They are irreducible afficionados who, in addition to acquiring sought-after models,
delight in adding a personal touch to them, often synonymous with unique pieces or
even limited editions.
From Tourbillon to skeletonization of a
mythical caliber
For one of them, an original and
limitless client, Label Noir had already
made a name worldwide: the brand
launched in 2018 the world's first Rolex
Tourbillon, a Milgauss that became a
hit in the medias.
Watchmaker
Emmanuel Curti, CEO of Label Noir,
loves such clients. Because every
madness is synonymous with
challenge.
And when respect for fine
mechanical watchmaking is
matched by innovative creativity in
terms of finishings and closures, the
exercise requires the entire range of
expertise in watchmaking excellence.
The art of watchmaking
skeletonization involves stripping each
component of a watch movement of
as much material as possible, without
taking the risk of weakening its loadbearing structures or impairing its
precision.
It is a real complication
resulting from an addition of delicate
processes: digging until flirting with the
rupture points, then softening the
protruding angles while performing as
an artist.
For through the emptiness
achieved, a new aesthetic emerges
from the watchmaker's golden
fingers: racy, tapered curves,
suspension effects and
transparencies, harmony of lines and
intricacies… In short, a carefully
chiseled masterpiece that enhances
the fascinating kinetics of a
mechanical self-winding calibre that
is gradually being stripped bare.

Platinum oscillating mass, expertly inversion from polished, to brushed SuperMattLight
The micromechanical autopsy of this metamorphosis reveals that all the original
components of the famous calibre 4130, the one that inhabits the Daytona
chronographs, have been preciously preserved.
All but one.
The oscillating mass,
a.k.a. the rotor, that famous piece usually made of a heavy steel and brass alloy
which constantly supplies the caliber with energy through its to-and-fro motions.
In
this incredible Daytona Skeleton which has become LNSK010-01 (LN for Label Noir),
this mass is made of platinum and a transparent bottom allows you to visually taste it.
The very compact mass of this material makes it heavier, therefore more mobile.
The originality of this aesthetics so well done comes from this systematic inversion
between polished and satin finishes using the SuperMattLight technique.
The result of
this process is an unrivalled softness, an almost unreal light absorbency. As a result,
what was shiny in the original Daytona becomes matt in this squellete version, and
vice versa.
It's sober, deliciously organic, particularly uncluttered. Like the hands and
the bezel, which seem to have escaped any modification, the familiar crown, the
distinctive sign of Rolex, has been preserved at 12 o'clock, as the culmination of an
inner bezel on which some SuperLuminova tips have been sprinkled.
As for the pushbutton protection devices, they have been kept as they are.
Label Noir, ethical personalization, excellent reputation
The ultimate luxury brand Label Noir is a signature entirely dedicated to personalization.
Headed by watchmaker Emmanuel Curti, this love brand claims respect for origins and practices, and the most absolute ethics in terms of materials and techniques. It is the creator of all kinds of watch transformations, world firsts and process
innovations, such as Magma Moon Coating (MMC).
Its entrepreneurial foundations
are the result of the advanced know-how of excellent watchmaking co-contracting:
finishings, surface coating treatments, construction of cases and bracelets, manufacture of dials and hands, surgery on watch calibres, etc.
Label Noir, first Rolex Tourbillon in The first watchmakers used to work mainly on order and therefore in customization
mode.
This way of doing things is closely linked to the History of watchmaking. Once
the creation was finished, they used to sign the dial and added to their first and last
names, the place where their workshop was located.
Other master craftsmen then
later brands, when faced with ultra-special orders, also used to rename their works
with the name of their future owners...: Marie-Antoinette of Austria was Queen of
France, James Ward Packard was an American automobile manufacturer, Henry
Graves Jr. was a New York banker, Paul Newman was an automobile driver and an
actor.
These four figures embody the most accomplished form of the personalization
arts. The brand LABEL NOIR appropriates the fundamentals of watchmaking. It rekindles personalization, one of the noblest traditions. Welcome to the heights of the
most desirable luxury, that of being able to get involved in the creation of your own
watch.
