At such events, the biggest and most important or promising stars get to wear Chopard and many a mini battle had been waged backstage to lobby Chopard to loan their jewels. Being seen on the red carpet in Chopard means you have arrived or at least on the way to the Big Mansion in Never Never Land. Chopard does not lend to just any star so to be chosen means an extra feather in your hat.
Everyone knows the massive diamond necklaces, earrings, rings and bangles have to be returned, usually the very same night. Chopard's security forces will follow the stars to whichever parties and just before they pass out or go home, whichever comes first, the jewels will be retrieved and removed from their bodies.
Of course if you win the Oscar wearing Chopard you may consider buying it since it must have worked as your good luck charm. But not all stars are worth tens of millions like Sandra Bullock and Cate Blanchett but ain't it swell to see them shining like, well, stars up in the heavens?
