The first dine-around dinner of MIGF 2015 last
Wednesday 9 September 2015 was at The Food Studio at Amarin Kiara in Jalan Desa
Kiara hosted by Cherry Lee of Macau Government Tourist Office Representative in
Malaysia.
The Food Studio is not a restaurant per se but a
cooking school like Cordon Bleu so the VIP guests of MIGF co-founders and organisers Dato
Steve Day and Datin Su Day did not have to give points to the evening’s menu.
Normally, participating restaurants in MIGF create a
special, value for money menu just for the duration of MIGF but if certain
dishes prove a hit (as they always do), then they find their way into the main
menu later!
The Food Studio is not open for lunch or dinner as
you just cannot saunter in and order. Presiding head honcho Chef Paul who has
been in Malaysia for 16 years and participated in the history inaugural MIGF 15
years ago, said, “The Food Studio caters for private events, gourmet cooking
classes and fine catering. You can hold a private dinner for 20 people minimum
at RM 200 per pax and we tailor made a nice menu to your taste.”
However, Chef Paul did not have anything to do with
the Macau Dinner which was created specifically for the occasion by famous
Macau chef Antonieta Fernandes Manhao flown in from Macau. She is half
Portuguese and half Chinese as Macau was a Portuguese colony until it rejoined
mainland China.
Beamed the chef, “I also have a food studio in Macau
so drop by next time you are in town! Tonight’s cooking is not 100% authentic
as no wine and pork are used but I hope you will still enjoy a taste of Macau.”
The evening was graced by Royal Patron of MIGF the Tunku Laksmana of
Negeri Sembilan Y.A.M Tunku Naquiyuddin
Tuanku Jaafar who has been Royal Patron for 15 years!
Almost all had never been to The Food Studio which
was introduced to them by Datin Su Day who is a Cordon Bleu chef herself!
So it was very pleasant and
interesting evening as Chef Antonieta introduced each of the 7 courses,
including a ‘lala’ dish and meat with caramel or as Chef Wan said, ‘kicap manis’!
