ANNOUNCING THE WINNERS OF THE BRANDLAUREATE SMEs BESTBRANDS AWARD 2015- 2016 AT THE BRANDLAUREATE SMEs BESTBRANDS AWARDS GALA DINNER, MARCH 10th, 2016, THE MAJESTIC HOTEL, KUALA LUMPUR
The winners of The BrandLaureate SMEs BestBrands Award 2015-2016 were announced by the Asia Pacific Brands Foundation (APBF) at its gala dinner, held at The Majestic Hotel, Kuala Lumpur.
The prestigious Awards night was attended by over 1,000 guests comprising corporate leaders, brand owners and leading personalities.
DARE TO TAKE ON, TAKE IT, TAKE OVER is the theme of this year's Awards and most appropriate in view of the prevailing tough business environment that confronts us Malaysians. SMEs are urged to build on their competency and have the courage and confidence to march on and continue to build their brand as branding is a 24/7 task and knows no rest.
SMEs are the engine of growth and channels of entrepreneurism, which form the lifeline of economies. Without SMEs, economies of the world are not going to develop as SMEs play pivotal support roles that are crucial to economic growth and progress.
This prestigious Award is to champion those SMEs who have Dare to Take On, Take it and Take Over to achieve that leadership position.
The 24k gold plated trophy honours and acknowledges the best of SMEs in their respective industries.
In achieving this coveted position, they have demonstrated excellent branding skills that put them ahead of the competition. Hence, the trophy is a reflection of their success, a success that is most deserving and speaks of the passion and commitment put in building their brands to be No. 1 and be the best in their respective industries.
In his welcome speech, Dr KKJohan, President of The BrandLaureate congratulated the champions of SMEs Brands for their win and expounded on the reason behind the Award's chosen theme, "The current economy is definitely not encouraging, so what do we do then? Do we crawl back into the hole, like the squirrel does in winter and wait for spring to come, where the climate is warmer and more conducive or do we ride the waves and take on the challenges.
"The APBF chose the theme of “Dare to Take On, Take It and Take Over” for this year’s Award as we feel it is most appropriate and reflective of current situation.
"And as brand owners, we must also be strong captains, seafarers who are courageous and confident to navigate the wild and stormy seas and re-surfaced when we are pulled down under by the ferocious waves. SMEs must have a strong and positive mindset to scale the highest peak and break barriers."
He then concluded his speech by urging SMEs to, “Grab the opportunities that surrounds you, If there are no opportunities, create them and set trends, innovate to build your brand. SMEs, Dare to Take on, Take It and Take Over to ensure your brand arrives at The Finest Hour. Make it the Finest Hour and not the Final Hour for your brand!"
During the night, over 70 companies and individuals received The BrandLaureate Awards which were divided into the following categories;

The SMEs BrandLaureate Brand Leadership Award is awarded to outstanding leaders who have played key and pivotal roles in building their brands to be market leaders.
They are known for their strong and dynamic leadership, entrepreneurial acumen, wisdom and foresight. In building their brands, they have played an equally important role in helping their countries develop economically, through the areas of investment, business opportunities and employment.
There were ten recipients of this Award followed by the presentation of The BrandLaureate SMEs Brand Personality Award to YBhg Dato' Nicky Liow, Founder of www.518yunbao.com.
Meanwhile, The BrandLaureate SMEs Business Couple of the Year Award 2015-2016 celebrates and honors outstanding couples and partners who have built successful brands and business under their stewardship.
They have demonstrates strong leadership and are in unison in their vision and mission for the brand. Recipient of this year's The BrandLaureate SMEs Business Couple of the Year Award was YBhg Dato’ Vincent Choo and wife, Datin Cynthia Cheong who are the man and woman behind the success of Subway Malaysia.
The prestigious event also saw the launch of The BrandLaureate’s Blogazine, Brandology (www.thebrandlaureate.net). The Blogazine brings readers to the heart and soul of branding and features the latest trends and brand culture on the go.
Guests were entertained with exciting performances by Reizo Zen, a Michael Jackson Tribute Artiste of Asia, electric violinist, Dennis Lau, a singing performance by the highly talented Zamil Idris who was the emcee of the night and an enchanting water drum performance by Viva Magic Entertainment.
The guest of honor that night, YBhg. Kolonel (K) Tan Sri Datuk Wira Dr. Hj. Mohd Shukor bin Hj. Mahfar, CEO of Lembaga Hasil Dalam Negeri was presented with a glitter portrait of him painted by Meteor.
