Due to the overwhelming success of
KL Alta Moda 2017, KL Alta Moda (KLAM) hosted a musical soiree at Istana Budaya
(the National Theatre of Malaysia) on 14 May 2018 to celebrate its partnership
with Anna Atelier, a platform established as a gateway for obscure Italian
fashion labels to create their presence in South East Asia, East Asia and the
UAE.
This musical soiree will also mark the official launch of the inaugural
Kelantan Silver Shoe Collection, a CSR project headed by KL Alta Moda in
partnership with Hasanah Foundation, a foundation of Khazanah Nasional.
The soiree featured performances by our
local classical musicians and a fashion showcase by Anna Atelier featuring its
7 MADE IN ITALY Italian handbag brands and a video presentation by Amato, a designer
to leading Hollywood stars such as Beyonce, Jennifer Lopez and Katy Perry.
This appearance will further cement the association of Amato with KL Alta Moda and Anna Atelier; and help announce the launch of Anna Atelier at Amato Couture Showroom in Dubai.
This appearance will further cement the association of Amato with KL Alta Moda and Anna Atelier; and help announce the launch of Anna Atelier at Amato Couture Showroom in Dubai.
Themed
on cultural preservation, high fashion and education development, this musical
soiree forms a unique collaboration with several bodies to enhance KLAM’s goal
to not only launch local and international designers and artisans with their
range of craftsmanship to the world, but also place emphasis on educating the
younger generation on heritage conservation.
The event will be supported by
musicians such as legendary singer Sahara Yaacob, Kamrul Husin and Dodi
himself.
As
KL Alta Moda ventures toward education, the event was assisted by students of
IACT College, a Creative Communication Specialist institution (under the BAC
Education Group) as part of a Public Relations requirement.
“The exposure and
real-life understanding of a high-level event will be meaningful for the
students as they get to witness not just the outcome but also the preparation
that follows suit in planning one,” says Natasha Mohd Hishamudin, Head of
School for Creative Communications who, with the involvement of her PR Campaign
Strategies students, collaborated with Dodi for the successful KL Alta Moda
fashion gala last year with Mercy Malaysia.
“It’s not just about giving
opportunities to help them get a taste of fashion PR, but to encourage them to
appreciate cultural preservation as this event is also a tribute to artisans
from Kelantan, and that’s where Yayasan Hasanah plays an important role,”
explains Dodi, who initiated the collaboration.
Profile of The Performers
Kamrul
Hussin received his Diploma and Degree in Music from ASWARA majoring in Malay
and Western percussions and received his Master Degree from the National
University of Malaysia (UKM) under the school of Malay Language, Literature and
Culture. He is currently a senior Music lecturer at UiTM, Shah Alam.
Locally,
he has backed major artistes such as Tan Sri SM Salim , Ning Baizura and Datuk
Siti Nurhaliza. He has also travelled the world performing in the Asian refion,
Europe and the USA. Internationally he has performed alongside many major world
famous acts such as Dedek Wahyudi, Vishnu Muhambat and Sadao Watanabe.
Dodi
Mohasdi Hj Mohammad was trained by a renowned Malaysian baritone, Cha Seng
Tiang, and a Florence based opera singer, Massimo. He also received a vocal
training at Carnegie Hall in London.
His main inspiration in life is Prof Jimmy
Choo whom he considers not only the Grand Master of Fashion but most
importantly a Great Mentor of Life.
Dodi is currently the Malaysian publicist
for Prof Jimmy Choo in Malaysia and a representative of Dame Zandra Rhodes for Asia.
He was trained in fashion at the Jimmy Choo Couture studio in London and
received direct tutelage from the master himself. He recently was given the
honour to perform at the Diana Award Charity event at W Hotel in Guangzhou,
China and received a standing ovation.
In October last year, Dodi was invited
to perform at the City of Armidale. Australia by its Mayor. He received his
first break in singing when he was invited to perform in a solo mini concert at
The University of East London when he was a student at the university.
Sahara
Yaacob is known to be a legendary singer of the nation. She started her singing
career in the 60’s and is still active as a performer until today.
The
multi-talented diva has been travelling the world and she is able to sing in
Malay, English, Mandarin, Japanese, Tagalog and French. For KL Alta Moda
musical soiree, Sahara will perform pieces from the musicals.
KL Alta Moda As A Marketing Platform For Anna Atelier
Along the years, KL Alta Moda has established
a strong link with the Italian Trade Commission, British High Commission,
Australian High Commission as well as Amato Couture Gallery and Pavilion Kuala
Lumpur.
This is made possible through the effort and dedication of Dodi, who is
also the Producer of KL Alta Moda.
Dodi has more than 15 years’
experience in the fashion industry, beginning with his career as a publicist
and PA to Datuk Jimmy Choo at Jimmy Choo Couture studio in London and his
involvement with Dame Zandra Rhodes from 2013 to the present. Dodi was also one
of key event managers for the official launch of Pavilion Kuala Lumpur by Pak
Lah during his tenure as the Prime Minister.
Dodi’s outstanding fashion profile
that lists Prof Datuk (Dr) Jimmy Choo OBE, Dame Zandra Rhodes DBE, Serena Ho of
Kwanpen, London. Deida Acero of London and Saleem d’Aeronville of Aoki and
Orihica of Japan as key names, unequivocally positions him as unrivalled in the
field of fashion PR and branding in the international arena.
Dodi, the
producer of KL Alta Moda, was one of the key people who witnessed Prof Datuk
(Dr) Jimmy Choo‘s rise to fame. He was also the producer of Zandra Rhodes’s
presentations at London Fashion Week in 2015 and 2016. Zandra, in her heydays,
designed for Jackie Onassis, Elizabeth Taylor, Diana, Princess of Wales and
Freddie Mercury.
Her recent clients include Dame Helen Mirren, a Hollywood
actress. Dodi’s current shoe project has also won a grant from Yayasan Hasanah,
a foundation of Khazanah Nasional. He has also been invited to collaborate with
Ida Lundberg, a wedding couturier in Gothenburg, Sweden
Anna Atelier’s coming on board as a partner of KL Alta Moda will
open up opportunities for it to develop and increase its presence in all the
countries that KL Alta Moda is associated to. In fact, KL Alta Moda has already
secured a space for Anna Atelier at Amato Couture Gallery, where Dodi has been
initially approached to exhibit his own shoe collection.
Under KL Alta Moda,
Dodi aims to enhance the positioning of Anna Atelier as an international fashion
platform that not only propagates high fashion but also the bilateral ties
between Malaysia and Italy.
Domestically too, Anna Atelier will be able to
benefit from KL Alta Moda’s ready existing network that consist of many high
net worth individuals.

The
Kelantan Silver Jewellery Shoe Project
A
Proposal By
KL
ALTA MODA SDN BHD
Background:
Kelantan
is well known for silversmithing, where artisans work on silver derived from
ingots and bars. And despite the advancement in technology, many still prefer
silver items that are produced traditionally. However, traditional silversmiths
are a dying breed.
A
research conducted by KL Alta Moda Sdn Bhd/Tradisi Busana PR Sdn Bhd with
Kraftangan Malaysia recently showed that the silversmiths of Kelantan are now
finding it difficult to continue their art due to lack of demands.
They do not
receive enough public attention, let alone appreciation. They desperately need
help in securing more market so that the whole industry could thrive.
Kraftangan too has attempted to create programmes to help but the lack of
market demands of the silver remains the main obstacle.
Currently, the Kelantan
silver industry is still in dire need of reshaping and a proper structure for
its working paradigm.
Kelantan Silver Jewellery
Shoe Project:
The Kelantan
Silver Jewellery shoe Project is a community project that will involve selected
Kota Bharu silver artisans in producing high quality silver jewellery for embellishments
on shoes which will be handcrafted by the artisans of Italy.
Project Objectives:
The Objectives of this project
are:
·
To bring the attention of the
world to Kelantan Silver and to give it sustainability;
·
To create the market and
re-establish the working paradigm for the silver industry;
·
To promote Malaysian
capabilities in high skilled artistic ventures;
·
To brand Malaysia as a highly
civilized nation.
·
To preserve and conserve the
dying and at risk silversmith industry in Kelantan
·
To ensure this traditional
art/craft continues and to create interest among the younger generation to
explore this art/craft as a vocation i.e. creating career opportunities for
them.
·
To produce high quality AHC
products with prestige via the association with Italian shoe artisans
Project Briefs:
The
combination of the world’s best Italian shoe artisans with the best of
Malaysian silver artisans to produce a collection of ‘haute couture’ quality will
grant this project a high competitive edge.
The association
of Kelantan silver jewellery to the best of the shoe artisans of Italy will
automatically position Kelantan silver jewellery on a world level, where it
would be perceived as high end as well as eclectic.
This positioning will help
cement the status and quality of Kelantan silver, as it is being produced by
highly skilled artisans whose artistic passions are more of proper artistes
rather than mere silver workers or jewellers.
At the
same time, each range of shoe will be attributed to a particular silversmith
who will be designing the matching silver jewellery for the whole range. This
will guarantee proper recognition for individual artisans involved and ensure
that each range is of the quality and standard required. Each range will also
carry the name of the
founder of the individual organisation/company selected
for the project.
The
focus on ‘private orders’ and high end society gathering will create the
necessary hype for the silver jewellery shoes. The shoes and the silver
embellishment will also be properly certified.
This will make the collection
more of collector’s items rather than just ordinary shoes. This marketing
method will also allow some amount of control on the demands to avoid supply
insufficiency.
Project Manager
This project
will be managed by Dodi Mohasdi Hj Mohammad who was trained under the tutelage
of Prof Datuk (Dr) Jimmy Choo at his Jimmy Choo Couture Showroom in London. The
shoes to be produced will be very much inspired by Jimmy Choo Couture shoes and
the mode pf branding and marketing will be based on the Jimmy Choo story.
At
present, Dodi still serves as Prof Choo’s Malaysian publicist and Prof Choo has
agreed to personally guide and advise Dodi Mohammad on this project.
Dodi
Mohammad was also responsible for initiating the collaborative project between
Kraftangan Malaysia and Dame Zandra Rhodes DBE to promote Malaysian
capabilities in textile production and garment making. Under this project,
Batik and Songket were highlighted at The London Fashion Week shows under the ‘Zandra
Rhodes’ label.
Project Financing and
Marketing
To ensure financial viability and guarantee proper
organic growth, this project will be initiated with a small collection. The
first batch of orders from the factory will not exceed 150 pairs of shoes. Out
of this, 50 pairs of shoes will be allocated for nationwide exhibitions to
create awareness of Kelantan Silver Jewelry.
This will serve to preserve and
safeguard the traditional art of jewelry making; as well as the sustainability effort
by promoting it via the association with the shoe artisans of Italy who have
been successfully positioned as the best shoe artisans in the world. A
documentary and a coffee table book on the project will also be produced to
further strengthen the campaign.
The remaining 100 pairs of shoes will be sold
to private clients the ‘haute couture’ way, whereby clients will be making
personal orders strictly through private appointments. Each client will be
personally attended to just like how it was at the Jimmy Choo Couture showroom
in London.
The next stage will be to create global reach
for the silver jewelry embellished shoes. Collaborations a couturier in Dubai
and world fashion agents namely Good New
Fashion which is based in Italy and Switzerland as well as Fashion
Advocates of Australia Dubai have been established.
We are also in talks with Malaysia Airports
Berhad for exhibition spaces at leading airports of Malaysia.
Project Sustainability
This whole project is aimed at creating
a proper business module for Kelantan Silver Jewellery, a dying form of
heritage art, in line with producing high quality AHC products. This module is
drawn upon the international success of Jimmy Choo who drew the attention of
the West to his name by staying true to his Malaysian roots.
The Head
coordinator of this project who personally witnessed Jimmy Choo’s rise to fame,
Dodi Mohammad will be personally mentored by the master himself to ensure the
success of this project and its longevity as a proper business entity.
Jimmy
Choo’s focus on staying true to his heritage and never compromising on quality
will be the main pillars and his personal motto “creativity through skills”
adds to the foundation of this initiative.
With the understanding of the
business acumen, the artisans will be guided towards the following collections
in a manner that they would be able to develop firmer and more balanced
business structure that would lead to sustainability.
The business entity aims to produce one
main collection per year for three (3) years and to proceed with two (2) main
collections per year after year three (3) in line with the conventional
practice of international fashion brands.
These collections (which will be
produced by the artisans) will be marketed via our permanent retail space at
Amato in Dubai and the ASEAN centre in Los Angeles as well as Karyaneka outlets
at Malaysian airports.
To ensure further sustainability, the
artisans will also be guided with the necessary entrepreneurial skills in terms
of attention to details, communication, persistence and risk taking to turn
them into individual entrepreneurs besides the aim to guide them to produce
high quality AHC products.

Anna Atelier
Made In Italy
Anna Atelier is a mixed brand set up
targeting at style conscious and discerning consumers. It features exclusively
MADE IN ITALY Italian handbag labels which are predominantly boutique labels
and made by the Italian artisans.
Anna Atelier was a brainchild of YBhg
Datin Anna Datuk Azman who is currently the Managing Director of Golden
Perpetual Berhad. Datin Anna began her corporate odyssey in oil and gas and
currently, she is involved largely in the automotive industry. Having travelled
extensively, her passion for handbags grew from loving the LVs, the PRADAs and
the CDs to those of obscure boutique labels but of high quality. She used to
walk the streets of Milan, Barcelona and Paris in search of artisans.
For Anna Atelier, she has identified
her favourite 7 labels which are Arcadia, Tosca Blu, Giulia Ricchini, Jadise,
Cromia, Carlo Salvatelli, Steffanoturco and Rosa Lou. Apart from Cromia, these
labels are still not available anywhere in South East Asia and she would be the
first person to bring them to the South East Asian shores. Anna Atelier has
also secured a space to market these labels at Amato Couture Gallery in Dubai
which will start operation in July 2018.
Anna Atelier was launched in Malaysia
at Kuala Lumpur Alta Moda musical soiree at Istana Budaya on the 14th
of May 2018.
