Chic modern Chinese vegetarian restaurant Miss Lee launches a new specialty plant-based menu inspired by the Chinese mythological ‘Eight Immortals’ at the newly opened addition to the “LEE” stable of restaurants at The Wellington in Central. 

Vitamin-packed recipes harnessing ancient supernatural health powers on The Eight Immortals Tasting Menu will be launched on 20 June – perfectly in time for celebrating Father’s Day. 

The inspiring new menu of appetisers, mains and desserts is themed after China’s legendary Eight Immortals – He Xiangu, Lan Caihe, Han Xiangzi, Li Tieguai, Lü Dongbin, Cao Guojiu, Zhongli Quan and Zhang Guolao – priced HK$398 per person for six courses of HK$498 for eight courses.

Most dishes are also Buddhist-friendly, vegan and gluten-free – with reservations required two days in advance. 

On Father’s Day weekend (20-21 June 2020), dads can additionally be treated to a day-long, freeflowing promotion with two hours of bubbly prosecco and soft drinks for an additional HK$188 per person. 

Among appetisers in honour of the Eight Immortals, Mushroom Beauty pays homage to He Xian-gu, the only goddess among the Eight Immortals bearing lotus flower to symbolise good health, with Napoleon-style puff pastry stuffed with Shimeji mushroom, rich in vitamin D and zinc, and walnut known for nourishing the spleen and stomach.

Broccoli Wizard honours androgynous Lan Cai-he, the advocate of medicinal plants and herbs, with patties of vitamin C and zinc-rich steamed egg, tofu, baby corn and edamame soybean on a bed of super food broccoli. 

Eggplant Composer, named after flute-playing deity Han Xiang-zi, supplements eggplant with Chinese yam, known for nourishing the spleen and stomach, black fungus and Enoki mushroom, long valued in oriental medicine for strengthening immunity against disease, virus and general illness. 

Doughnut Beggar, symbolising Li Tie-guai, patron of the oppressed and needy, is a playful presentation of Cantonese doughnut, vitamin C-rich mashed potato and lemon, and ginger, which famously lowers risk of respiratory infection by inhibiting bacteria. 

Among main courses, Melon Poet, named after smart scholar Lü Dong-bin, highlights braised winter melon, a powerful immune system booster which is rich in vitamin C and zinc, flavoured with Chef’s secret soy sauce, with taro puree and pearl barley.  

In tribute to patron deity of acting and theatre Cao Guo-jiu, Seaweed Highness strengthens the immune system with seaweed and mushroom, a leading source of the antioxidant nutrient selenium, protecting body cells from damage that might lead to chronic diseases, along with taro, asparagus and vitamin A from baby carrot. 

For dessert, vegan and gluten-free Pear Commander summons the healing power of bearded Quan Zhong-li, who in legend wields a large fan to resurrect the dead and transforms stones into silver or gold. For health, pear keeps lungs energy strong and lubricates the throat, preventing dryness and cough – along with osmanthus wine, snow swallow and quinoa, a superfood source of vital minerals including manganese, phosphorus, copper, folate, iron, magnesium and zinc. 

Avocado Priest, a tribute to entertaining eccentric Zhang Guo-lao, who carries iron rods or mallets representing immortality, blends mango puree with avocado’s unique combination of vitamins and minerals – keeping immune systems fighting fit, boost energy and enhance good health with a brainloving bundle of nutrients.

Opened in December 2019, Miss Lee is conveniently located at The Wellington, 198 Wellington Street, Central, presenting modern Chinese vegetarian cuisine from everyday natural ingredients taking guests on a healthy and wholesome culinary adventure. 

Seating 42, at Miss Lee, innovative food comes together in a stylish and modern 105 sq. m setting with chic interiors of blush pink walls complemented by accents of warm yellow and green for an inviting and cosy atmosphere.
