THIS ONCE IN A LIFETIME DAY AND DATE THAT FEATURES SIX 1 IN A ROW WILL SEE THIS BEAUTY QUEEN TIE THE KNOT WITH HER HONG KONG BOYFRIEND OF MANY YEARS AT ROYALE CHULAN GRAND BALLROOM IN KUALA LUMPUR.

To celebrate this red letter day, Carrie Lee and Stephen Chu flew to Maldives with a team of 9 that included photographers, designers, make-up artist, hair stylist and videographers to shoot these exclusive photos which you lucky folks are seeing for the very first time!

Top Malaysian designing duo Daniel & Leslie created and sponsored 9 spectacular gowns worth RM 200,000! Other sponsors were Supposezami from Johore and Anovial from Penang. Pixman Max and make-up artist Pey Ru worked their magic for this shoot.

The theme for her wedding dinner is White Fairy which is also the name of her beauty and event management company she built 6 years ago when she was only 20! That was when she became the FIRST and ONLY Malaysian to win the coveted Miss Chinese Cosmos in Hong Kong! The Hong Kong organisers than granted her the franchise to hold the Southeast Asia edition of Miss Chinese Cosmos and she now sends the 3 local winners to compete in the grand finals in Hong Kong.

The decor she says will be mostly white with touches of pink for a hint of whimsy and romance. She will change costumes maybe up to 6 times and the video taken in the Maldives will be shown after being edited by Supposezami and Anovial. Yes, these are their real names so don't ask me why their names are so strange. I have been accused of being strange on many occasions so I know the feeling!

SO CONGRATULATIONS CARRIE LEE AND STEPHEN CHU ON YOUR WEDDING DAY AND MAY BUDDHA GRANT YOU ALL HAPPINESS, MANY CHILDREN AND TONS OF SUCCESS!

IT IS AN HONOUR THAT TOM DAVIES HAS SEEN SIT TO GRANT HIS BESPOKE GLASSES FRANCHISE TO EYECON, MALAYSIA'S LEADING OPTOMETRY NETWORK WITH 12 STORES IN KL, KUCHING, IPOH, PENANG, SEREMBAN, MALACCA AND JOHORE BARU. FOR THE FIRST TIME, NOT EVEN SINGAPORE. HONG KONG OR TOKYO HAS TOM DAVIES BESPOKE EYEWEAR STORES! SO WE ARE THE FIRST AND CONGRATULATIONS TO MURPHY CHAN, GROUP CEO OF EYECON.

With his 7 friends, all optometrists and owning their own eyewear stores, Murphy Chan saw a need for a specialised eyecare chain of stores. "We need to be different from the other 5,000 optical shops selling the same brands of eyewear and contact lenses," he explained at the launch of Tom Davies Bespoke boutique at The Gardens, MidValley. "Eyecon has 40 optometrists who are specialists in eye care using state of the art equipment."

Each of the 8 founders have a share in Eyecon which sounds like 'Icon'! There was no particular reason this name was chosen apart from the fact it sounded and looked good!

"Tom Davies Limited Edition glasses come in 5 to 50 pieces worldwide and cost under RM 2,000. The Bespoke glasses start from RM 2,400 for the frame only and with lenses, you are looking at around RM 3,000," said Murphy Chan. "Then there is Tom Davies Couture which is personally designed for you by Mr Tom Davies himself and this costs a minimum of RM 25,000. If you wish your glasses to be studded with diamonds, it can go up to RM 50,000 or more, depending on how much bling you desire."

Tom Davies Bespoke glasses is the equivalent to a bespoke men's suit from Savile Row or Haute Couture for ladies. Why settle for a ho-hum, humdrum, everyone's-got-one spectacles when you can have one crafted to suit the shape of your face, taking into account your nose bridge, cheek bones, temples and brow.

A pair of rather sinister calipers are used to measure precisely the structure of your face and a trained staff will take you through the paces. You decide the colour, size, length, shape and material of your bespoke glasses just like you would do with a suit. The finished product would have been crafted to your exact specifications so your new Tom Davies Bespoke spectacles or sunglasses will fit, flatter and frame your face to perfection!

FIRST LUXURY BESPOKE EYEWEAR SERVICE LAUNCHED

TD Tom Davies Bespoke available exclusively at Eyecon Optometry Centres

Kuala Lumpur, October 31, 2011 – Optometry specialists, Eyecon Optometry Network (Eyecon), has launched TD Tom Davies Bespoke, the world’s first luxury made-to-measure eyewear service in Malaysia.

Malaysia is also the first country in Asia to launch this exciting bespoke service following the appointment of Eyecon as the sole distributor by the award-winning British luxury eyewear brand.

TD Tom Davies, helmed by British spectacle designer Tom Davies, has revolutionised eyewear by introducing bespoke frames that are designed and hand-made to suit a person’s face, skin tone, physical characteristics and lifestyle.

Having a frame designed and made for you is like a combination of ordering a bespoke suit and re-designing your own face. You get spectacles or sunglasses that fit perfectly, in exactly the colours and materials you choose, and designed specifically around your natural features.

According to Eyecon Chief Executive Officer, Murphy Chan, while consumers could spend thousands of ringgit on designing and tailoring their wardrobe, there was simply no option for personalisation when it came to spectacles or sunglasses until TD Tom Davies came long.

“For many, glasses are the defining features of their faces and something they will wear every day for years on end. Eyecon is proud to introduce TD Tom Davies Bespoke frames to discerning Malaysians. They are made for spectacle wearers who want the perfect fit and trendsetters who are seeking their signature style,” he said.

During the consultation, the customer chooses his or her preferred frame. The optometrist then takes a sophisticated series of measurements and photographs, chooses colours, shapes and materials and input them into the online design wizard.

TD Tom Davies designers in London will then provide a portfolio of three designs which gives a realistic idea of what the frames look like on the customer’s face.

Once the option is chosen, the frame is hand-made using a combination of traditional techniques and modern machinery. One of the features most liked by TD Tom Davies customers is having their names laser-engraved discreetly on the inside of one of the arms as the finishing touch.

Typically, the entire process, from consultation to delivery, takes about three weeks.

TD Tom Davies Bespoke was launched in conjunction with the official opening of Eyecon’s flagship outlet at The Gardens, Mid Valley City. The outlet, one of the 12 Eyecon Optometry Centres nationwide, promises a new experience in eye care.

Instead of opticians, every Eyecon Optometry Centre is managed by optometrists who are trained to detect eye disease or evidence of systemic abnormalities. Optometrists are also able to provide more comprehensive eye care and advice to the public.

Eyecon Optometry Centres also use state-of-the-art equipment and machines that are able to offer a comprehensive analysis of the health of your eyes. In addition to the usual range of products, they also offer customised solutions for frames and lenses.

According to Chan, Eyecon aimed to provide a totally new eye care experience to the public as the “trusted eye care advisor”.

“We currently have 12 centres nationwide and aim to increase the number through our franchise programme. Our vision is to become a world-class optometry network that is able to deliver professional and holistic eye care services and innovative solutions that enhance and enrich lives,” he said.

Since the network’s formation in 2010, Eyecon has been providing vision testing and free eyewear to underprivileged children through its Penglihatan Jelas, Prestasi Cemerlang (PJPC) Corporate Responsibility campaign.

In conjunction with the launch of TD Tom Davies Bespoke, Eyecon announced that it will be sponsoring eyewear and eye care for one underprivileged child with every purchase from the range.

Why compromise when it comes to glasses?

British spectacle designer Tom Davies brings the luxury of bespoke
to frames. Consumers can spend thousands on their wardrobe.
Yet when it comes to glasses, which are the defining feature of their
face, they won’t countenance paying more than a couple of hundred
pounds for something they will wear everyday for years on end.
That, at least, was the case until British spectacle designer
Tom Davies came onto the scene. In a short time, Tom has
revolutionised glasses by introducing bespoke frames, expressly
designed and handmade to suit a person’s face, colouring,
physical characteristics and lifestyle.

The wide range of Ready to Wear frames, recently enhanced by new
designs and the launch of a complete new sunglasses collection for
2009, is just the first step in the whole Tom Davies brand experience
which transforms into the customer owning a perfectly fitted pair of
bespoke glasses. With a buzzing presence for Bespoke in much of
Europe and an ever increasing demand for this service, Tom Davies,
as from this year, is venturing into French and Italian markets with an
aim of bringing something exciting and new to the region.

BESPOKE FRAMES ?
Having a frame designed and made for you is like a combination of
ordering a bespoke suit and re-designing your own face. You get
sunglasses or spectacles which fit perfectly, in exactly the colours and
materials you choose and designed specifically around your natural
features. They will suit you better than any glasses you have ever had.
Tom Davies Bespoke frames satisfy everyone: spectacle wearers who
want a perfect fit, individuals who are looking for style and colour and
those who have a clear idea of what they want. The customer chooses
their preferred frame and the optician takes a sophisticated series of
measurements and photos, chooses colours, shapes and materials and
input them into the online design wizard.

Our designers will then provide a portfolio of three designs
from which the customer can choose which gives a realistic idea of
what the frames looks like on their face. Once the option is chosen, the
frame is hand - made for the customer using a combination of traditional
techniques and modern machinery. And the finishing touch, one of the
features Tom’s customers like the most, is their name laser engraved
discreetly on the inside of one of the arms.

HOW ARE BESPOKE FRAMES DESIGNED?
Just as an experienced tailor has a set group of measurements which
he uses to assess body type and how the cloth will hang
on an individual, Tom’s seven principles guide his team of
designers when they are working on customers’ design portfolios.

WHERE CAN I BUY A TOM DAVIES
BESPOKE FRAME?
TD Tom Davies has over 200 outlets worldwide.
Option 1
The portfolio is usually ready in 24 hours. You and your customer select which option to go for and the finished frame will be shipped in three weeks.

HOW DID TOM COME TO START HIS
PERSONAL EYEWEAR REVOLUTION?
Tom considered the possibility of a viable bespoke service
for spectacles when he started in the eyewear industry in 1997.
Back then, living in Hong Kong and working for a small frame factory,
he was frustrated that his family and friends’ heads never quite fitted
his creations. He wondered for a while if it was just that everyone
he knew had strange heads.

But then he realised it wasn’t just his company’s frames which
didn’t fit people perfectly. No one anywhere seemed, to his eye,
to be wearing eyewear that was quite right for them.
For such a critical accessory – glasses are the first thing people
see when they look at you, as well as being the windows through
which you see the world – Tom thought it amazing how little
attention people paid to choosing spectacles.

People around the world were, in effect, taking pot luck
that the frames they chose in a rush at a high street optician’s
shop would not only look great on them, but feel great, fulfil the
optical requirements of their prescription and be to their
personal taste.

So when he got back to London, Tom launched his Couture
service, which involved him meeting high net-worth individuals
and designing frames for them individually.

After five increasingly successful years of designing such rarefied
frames for the rich and famous, Tom found himself in a position
to improve mankind’s face furniture to the next level.
At £5,000 a frame, the Couture service excluded a large
part of the potential market. By now Tom had learned enough
about what people really want from their spectacles to expand
and hand the role of designer over to a specially-trained team,
with his selected band of opticians as the contact point for buyers.

Oh, and he bought his own factory.

Once each frame is individually designed, our production masters
handcraft each part of the bespoke frame.
Manufacturing a custom-made Titanium frame is one of the key
technical innovations from Tom Davies.
Millimeter-perfect measurements are followed at each stage of
production. Even a single millimeter change can effect the way the
frame suits a customers natural features.
