This Golden Palm award by Chopard is given to the best movie at Cannes Film Festival
CANNES IS FULL OF EXCITEMENT AND WHY NOT?
Cannes is now in the midst of the 66th Cannes Film Festival and I am mingling with the rich and famous!
Already there has been 2 bigtime dramas---thieves stole RM 5 million worth of jewels from Chopard and last night there was an even bigger drama when 2 stars were shot at point blank but luckily the bullets were blanks!
I was strolling on Croisette, the world famous and super expensive boulevard when the shooting occurred. Of course I didn't know the shooting was happening but to think I was there within hundreds of metres of the shooting which happened during a live broadcast!
No wonder I told Dato Nancy Yeoh who was with me that so many tuxedoed men and glammed women were leaving the Festival Palace where the red carpet event was going on! Now I realised they were probably fleeing just in case there were more mad men shooting blanks!
If the bullets were blanks, they could have been real live ones too! And the dummy grenade could also have been real since the knife was genuine.
As it is, nerves are frayed as tourists and visitors and even locals living in Cannes worry about getting caught in the cross-fire! If the psycho mad man who fired blanks had used real bullets, innocent bystanders could also have been shot!
The Chopard jewels were stolen unseen when the room occupant was having dinner and attending parties. No one was hurt and no shots fired but this shooting by the beach could have turned fatal with death and destruction!
But being the brave and heroic type, I am staying put in Cannes! I came here with Kassandra Kassim's Newsmakers Unplugged team on 15 May and will leave on 25 May for Paris and then home to Kuala Lumpur on 28 May.

The newsflash was not real!
This AMG babe is for real!
I almost fainted when I saw this Bugatti car! This is one of the world's rarest cars and the billionaire Arab owner flew it in inside his private jet as he could not hire one in all of France!
This babe was hoping the owner would give her a ride...
She thought her long legs would match the Bugatti's long wheelbase...
The owner kicked the girl aside and offered me a lift instead!
He drove the Bugatti to one side so I could enter as he was blocking the hotel's entrance
This is the Arab number plate of the Bugatti
How everyone admired and drooled over the Bugatti!

Beauty and the Beast in architecture! The Carlton is so majestic and elegant and this block of cheap looking, downmarket flats look like an accident! The City Hall should tear down this eyesore
