STARS OF THE WEST END SING THE ROCK MUSICALS IN KL!

~Malaysia Stages A One-Night Only Musical Spectacular
Featuring Favourite Rock Hits of the West End! ~

Produced and presented by the British Theatre Playhouse in association with Worldwide Entertainment, Kuala Lumpur will welcome leading stars of West End in an up-coming exhilarating musical show called “STARS OF THE WEST END SING THE ROCK MUSICALS!”  scheduled to be staged for one night only on 28th April at the Sunway Hotel Resort & Spa, Subang Jaya.

“STARS OF THE WEST END SING THE ROCK MUSICALS!” will bring together the best leading stars from London's West End, giving us a medley of favourite anthems from the musicals in which they were the leading stars and singing iconic and legendary songs from smash-hit musicals like We Will Rock You (Queen), Thriller – Live (Michael Jackson), The Bodyguard (Whitney Houston), Tina: The Musical (Tina Turner), Beautiful: The Carole King Musical, Dreamgirls and Mowtown: The Musical.

This high-octane tour of the West End and Broadway features four internationally-renowned and highly-accomplished stars of British musical theatre who have played lead roles in highly-acclaimed West End musicals, comprising Shona Lindsay, Carole Stennett, Mike Sterling and Ricardo Afonso.

As an added bonus for the Malaysian audience, the show will also feature songs from all-time musical theatre hits such as The Phantom of the Opera and Les Miserables, which will be performed on stage by Mike Sterling who played The Phantom and Shona Lindsay who played Christine in The Phantom of the Opera at Her Majesty's Theatre in the West End.

“STARS OF THE WEST END” has toured extensively, playing in theatres and other venues across the UK and Europe since 2011. Highlights include a concert at London’s Cadogan Hall in 2014 and an exclusive performance at the Louvre in Paris in 2015.

It is a regular fixture at The Mill at Sonning near Reading in the UK, although the leading stars themselves have performed in all corners of the globe.

According to Cecilia Leong-Faulkner, Founder and Chairman, British Theatre Playhouse Malaysia, "I thought it would be timely to create "STARS OF THE WEST END SING THE ROCK MUSICALS" by introducing some of the rock musicals that have been highly successful in the West End and Broadway.

"When we presented THE DEFINITIVE RAT PACK last year and other outstanding shows here in Malaysia in previous years, it taught me that live music is a magical event beyond anything - our audience enjoyed themselves listening to songs that resonate and connect with them.

"With "STARS OF THE WEST END SING THE ROCK MUSICALS", the audience is guaranteed to have a great time.”

“We are introducing songs from the award-winning film, Bohemian Rhapsody with Ricardo Afonso singing Freddie Mercury - Ricardo was the lead (Galileo) in "WE WILL ROCK YOU", a rock musical based on the songs of British rock band Queen and directed by Ben Elton in the West End. It is a dream to have four leading stars of the West End to perform on the same stage,” adds Cecilia.

In the effort to bring this internationally acclaimed West End sensation to Malaysia, The British Theatre Playhouse is proud to be working with Sunway Hotel Resort & Spa, British Airways, British High Commission and British Malaysia Chamber of Commerce for their continuous support and contribution.

“The unwavering support from our sponsors towards the staging of STARS OF THE WEST END SING THE ROCK MUSICALS! in Malaysia will go a long way in giving Malaysians as well as musical enthusiasts in the region the opportunity to catch one of the most spectacular West End productions.” adds Cecilia.

“STARS OF THE WEST END SING THE ROCK MUSICALS” is a celebration of legendary songs from current West End rock musicals and it promises to bring the audience to their feet!  Not to be missed, indeed!
