On the occasion of the Day of Russia

On June 26, the Russian Embassy in Malaysia hosted a reception dedicated to the Day of Russia. Taking into account the local protocol practice and in connection with the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, the reception was organized later than the festive date. 

The event was attended by more than 500 guests, including representatives of the political and cultural elite, local business circles, public organizations, heads of diplomatic missions and members of the diplomatic corps, compatriots living in Kuala Lumpur, as well as employees of Russian overseas institutions with families. 

The Government of Malaysia was represented by Defense Minister Mohamad bin Sabu. Among the guests of honor were also the Chairman of the Senate of Malaysia C. Vignesvaran, Secretary General of the Ministry of Defense Hamimi Abd. Manaf, heads of several departments of the Malaysian Foreign Ministry.

The official part of the event began with the exchange of toast between the main guest and the Russian Ambassador to Malaysia VN Ermolov. Hymns of two countries were performed in the performance of the international chorus "Cantus Musicus". 

Then followed a concert prepared by compatriots living in Malaysia, as well as students of the school at the Embassy of Russia. The most tempestuous ovations of the audience were given to the little artists who performed the matryoshka dance.

Throughout the theme of the reception was the World Cup, which is taking place these days in Russia. Guests were presented with an exposition of the official production of FIFA World Cup Russia2018, including the mascot of the championship.

The wolf is Zabivaka. Demonstrated videos about the cities where the matches of the championship are held, and also about Yekaterinburg in connection with his application for EXPO 2025. 

All guests were presented with gifts at the end of the reception - souvenirs of the World Football Championship, which was delivered specially from Russia, and also made on the spot commissioned by the Embassy.The main guest was presented with a branded soccer ball and a Russian fan's scarf.

The reception was held in a friendly atmosphere and was highly appreciated by the guests.
