DEWAN BY CHEF WAN 1958 IS THE LATEST AND 'BESTEST' COUTURE MALAY FINE DINING IN MALAYSIA! LOCATED IDEALLY AND CENTRALLY AT THE ALL-NEW THE LINC OPPOSITE INTERMARK ACROSS THE ROAD FROM EX AMPANG PARK, IT IS A FOODIE PARADISE CURATED BY CHEF WAN AND HE IS THERE MOST OF THE TIME! I THOUGHT THE NAME DE.WAN BY CHEF WAN 1958 IS A BIT MISLEADING AS MOST ASSUME THE RESTAURANT WAS ESTABLISHED IN 1958 IN WHICH CASE CHEF WAN WOULD BE A 100 YEARS OLD TODAY! SO 1958 MUST BE THE YEAR HE WAS BORN BUT WHY INCLUDE THIS INFORMATION IN NAME OF RESTAURANT WHICH MAKES THE NAME A MOUTHFUL DELICIOUS AS THE MOUTHFUL MAY BE, HAHA. ALSO REMINDS ME OF DATO LEWRE LEW'S RESTAURANT IN THE STARLING MALL CALLED NICSMANN 1940S BY LEWRE. OR IS THIS A TREND I AM UNAWARE OF?

I MUST SAY THE NAME 'DE.WAN' IS TRULY INSPIRED AND PERFECTION PERSONIFIED AS THERE WILL BE SOON A REAL, ACTUAL 'DEWAN' WHICH MEANS 'HALL' IN MALAY. THE NAME 'DE.WAN' INCORPORATES CHEF WAN'S NAME TOO WHICH MAKES IT EVEN MORE APT!

I WOULD HAVE THOUGHT OF THIS NAME TOO BUT OWNERS CHEF WAN AND ANDRE SHUM NEVER ASKED ME TO THINK OF A SUITABLE NAME! CUTTING COSTS I SUPPOSE.

IT WAS ANDRE SHUM WHO CAME UP WITH THIS NAME AS HE WAS DRIVING! "IT WAS A LIGHT BULB MOMENT AS THE NAME DEWAN ENTERED MY HEAD JUST LIKE THAT!" HE SMIRKS.

'DE.WAN BY CHEF WAN 1958' IS SIMPLY WAN.DERFUL AND THE FOOD WILL MAKE YOU 'WAN' MORE AND MORE! THE RESTAURANT IS HALAL WITH NO LIQUOR SERVED. OR ELSE THERE WOULD BE A 'WAN.DER BAR'! I TOLD THEM TO DISPLAY STUFFED ANIMALS SO IT CAN BE 'HAI.WAN AT DE.WAN'! BUT THEY 'DUN.WAN'!!!

KERWEI OR NOT?

WHERE GREAT FOOD AND EXCITING EVENTS BLEND SO WAN-DERFULLY!

Malaysia’s latest place to be seen and eat to your heart's content has just opened! Last week in fact.
SIMPLY WAN-DERFUL!

And it's as vibrant, colourful and exciting and deliciously swanky like its namesake Chef Wan!

With a name like De.Wan 1958 by Chef Wan, that description and adjectives can only be attributed to one such person: multiple award-winning chef, Datuk Redzuawan Ismail or better known as Chef Wan -- the person noted for Malaysia’s good food, having been its ambassador and traversed the world to promote Malaysian cuisine for a good number of years.

De.Wan 1958 by Chef Wan is no ordinary Malaysian restaurant. It does not only offer you authentic Malaysian cuisine, it presents to you a lifestyle.

The décor brings you back to a time when its de rigeur to dress up for dinner, when you feel like tilting your little finger when you sip the tea, yet the food reminds you so much of mum’s cooking or Mak Cik Salmah’s special rendang back in the kampong. It is wholesome goodness, next to fine art.

And that’s just the restaurant.

De.Wan 1958 also has in its portfolio an event hall like no other -- a state-of-the-art venue designed for an immersive event experience.
Spreading over a spacious 13,000 sq feet of space at The LINC, Kuala Lumpur, De.Wan 1958 is not only a restaurant to savour diversified Malaysian cuisine, this is also where you can build a lifetime of memories by hosting your events at the hall.

Be it a corporate meeting, product launch, art exhibition, charity gala, birthday, anniversary or even the wedding you’ve been dreaming of, this is the perfect venue to celebrate all your important milestones.

In his usual inimitable style, Chef Wan believes “… food is an evolution that reflects the history of culture and through food you will find friendship and respect.”

After spending more than two decades abroad, Chef Wan has finally returned home to Kuala Lumpur, the city where it all began.

“The inspiration was really simple. We want to redefine Malaysian cuisine and food culture.
As many of you know, one of the most important goals for me is to raise awareness of Malaysian food at the international level.

"Our national Malay cuisine is full of flavours and colours, influenced by the diverse cultures Malaysia is blessed with, yet not many people are aware what an authentic Malaysian cuisine tastes like,” said this first Malaysian chef to have his own show, received prestigious international awards, authored a dozen cookbooks and hosted numerous TV shows.

The Space

De.Wan 1958 by Chef Wan is located on Level 2 of The LINC KL, an upcoming lifestyle retail centre in town.

Inspired by greenery, the mall is designed to bring visitors back to nature with its luscious green plants and decorations.

The interior design concept of the restaurant comes from the context of Chef Wan’s fun and cheery character. Colours from a tropical palette are chosen to evoke the feel of sun, freshness and cool vibes in an urban setting.

The entire restaurant and event hall can accommodate up to 450 seated dining, or 600 in theatre style setting, or 650 standing guests and fully fitted with audio-visual equipment and stage. They can provide security, valet parking services as well as red carpet entryway to make VVIPs feel extra special.

Projection Mapping
Apart from offering world class Malaysian cuisine, the team members believe in the overall dining experience.

Thus, De.Wan 1958 by Chef Wan has set up an audio-visual production team that produces a series of captivating and stunning arrays of 360-degree projection mapping. The entire visual effects will definitely enchant the guests, leaving lasting impressions that will make your  events the talk of the town.

Their event packages include the option to choose from one of our standard themes for the projection mapping. However, if clients wish to use a customized theme, our team is ready to bring their vision to reality.
