THE 2017 EDITION OF MERCEDES-BENZ STYLO ASIA FASHION WEEK IS CALLED '50 SHADES OF RED' PERCHANCE IN HONOUR OF THE BEST SELLING NOVEL '50 SHADES OF GREY'.
But opening night was themed 'My Fair Lady...or Gentleman' and only a handful of guests bothered to dress like Eliza Doolittle the heroine who became tramp to vamp. Many wore red though in honour of '50 Shades of Red' banner.
However Malaysia's best and most applauded couturier Keith Kee went the extra mile to create 2 fantastic Victorian style gowns inspired by the movie 'My Fair Lady'. Mouths fell open when the 2 models Kelly Jagan and Kit Leu sailed into Gateway Mall and hurried to the 3rd floor where the fashion show was held.
Guests started arriving at 7 pm to Central Piazza the epicentre of Gateway Mall for unlimited drinks and photo-posing. By 8.30pm they started perambulating to the third floor to take their seats.
VIPs led by the big bosses of Mercedes-Benz,The Star Media Group, Neutrogena, Reissiger Yachts and Dato Nancy Yeoh and Dato Professor Jimmy Choo O.B.E and Jeremy went on stage to cut the ribbon.
This was followed by all designers coming on stage with their muses before the proper show begun.
The finale was the Fashion Oscar awards followed by the much toured after-party. A big success that portends the rest of the fashion fest which ends on 6 May 2017.
